Hi just wondering if anyone has had a similar situation . I've had a positive pregnancy test satursday just gone. I have current symptoms. Clear blue says 2-3 weeks but I haven't had sex since the 5th February (6 weeks ago)and I had a period as expected on the 8th Feb lasting 5 days. Can someone please make this make sense to me of how I am pregnant !

Hey, I would contact EPU in your local hospital to get them to check this because you’re right, the dates don’t add up 😬 if you had a standard cycle then you would have to have had sex around the 22nd of feb +- 5 days. It’s possible that it could be a positive still from the previous month but a low hcg which a 2-3 would be signals problems..

Thank you. I was late on my period in January and the bleed I had in Feb could have been implantation bleed I guess that's what my initial thought was until the clear blue said 2-3weeks. Do you mean there could be signal issues with the test or it could signal problems such as I've lost the baby on that period I had in Feb?

It doesn’t sound like you lost the baby if you’re still testing positive. I’m more concerned about the pregnancy being somewhere it shouldn’t be if the test is correct.

id say the one of two things potentially is happening..

your pregnancy is from January and your HCG is too high and therefore giving you false readings of being a low hcg on the hcg test. This could be the hook effect because you would actually be a lot further along.

or..

you could potentially have an ectopic pregnancy where it could be somewhere like your fallopian tube and that’s what’s causing the HCG to rise slowly.

I would suggest that you call EPU and explain it to them and get it checked out as Ectopics can be life threatening if they’re not caught.

my period was a couple of days late once and I was TTC so I tested and it came back as a light positive but then I started bleeding a couple of days later so I just assumed I’d miscarried but then 4 weeks later as I was TTC I tested again and got a really strong positive so I called EPU and turns out I hadn’t miscarried but the baby was implanted in my fallopian tube and I was probably a few days away from it rupturing so definitely please get it checked either way! Hopefully it’s the first one for you and your just further along than you think :) x

Ahh thank you . Yes would 100% make sense if I concieved January and the bleed I had start of Feb was implantation as it was a light bleed . Just the clear blue has thrown me off but I read the instructions again before and I need to do it in my morning wee so just bought another and I shall see what it says ! Rang pregnancy unit and they said " just test again in a week " they weren't very helpful. I have a private scan booked 29th as earliest they will do it. Thanks again :)

There is also something called the hook effect which might explain the clear blue only saying 2-3 weeks instead of the max 3+
