Combined screening test - how long did you have to wait for the results?

As per the title, how long did your results take? Mine are taking absolutely ages and it's making me so anxious.

I have chased up but was just told they'd look into it, and then I don't hear back.

Do you mean the NIPT blood test? I waited 9 days but that was private as they didn’t offer it on the NHS 4 years ago.

If you mean the nhs ~12 week one I think it just came in the post about 7-10 days later. I didn’t keep track of the days. If it’s taking a while that’s usually good news and better than it being wuick. How long has it been for you now?

Ah, fair enough. This one's not technically the NIPT; the NHS do a different one first ("combined screening") and only offer the NIPT if the first one's higher risk. Or at least my trust does, maybe it differs elsewhere. I think it's a cost saving thing!

Yeah, that's the one. They did it with the 12 week scan. It's been almost 3 weeks wait now 😬. My mind is going all sorts of places, questioning did they lose the results etc 😂

They will call you within 5 days if it’s anything concerning so probably safe to assume it’s good news! Mine took about a week 🙂

Oh yes that is quite a wait! I can see why you are chasing them. Keep trying to ask? Can you contact your midwife to see if they can put a message in to the hospital to chase their end? I suppose you’re close to your 16 week appointment by this point so you could mention it then if you didn’t want to ring and ask?

They do say they would reach out within a few days of the test, or within 5 days, if it’s a high risk. However I do also understand that you want to know and to double check. I would want to know as well. Good luck and hopefully it’s a postal issue and appears soon.

Thanks everyone! It seems 3 weeks isn't quite normal but hopefully not a terrible sign! I do have a Midwife appointment this week so will keep chasing!

I got mine at my 16 week appointment. In my area if it’s bad news you get a call within 5 working days they don’t send out a letter.

id take the lack of news as good!
