Bump looks small for 9 months?

I am 37 weeks pregnant and I’ve always thought my bump looked tiny this entire pregnancy. I look at it, and think “there’s no way there’s like a 7 lb baby in there right now!”

I am taller than average (almost 5’7) and do have a long torso (which my midwife commented on at the first visit). Before pregnancy, I was also thin with my BMI at the low end of the healthy range (it was about 20 pre pregnancy).

At my 20 week ultrasound, baby was measuring exactly 50% for estimated weight. My midwives measure my fundal height at every appointment and it has always consistently measured 1 week ahead. At my 36 week appointment it even measured 37.5.

I was over 9lbs when I was born (my mom is 5’9 and dad is 6’0) and my husband was slightly over 8lbs (his mom is about 5’10 and his dad is 5’6).

is the size of my tummy any indication of the size of baby? I hope she’s not too small!

Once birth starts you will hope she is small 🤣

Some people carry more or less water than others which affects the size. If your midwives aren’t worried don’t worry yourself.
Good luck!

I wouldn’t be concerned! My friend was massive and I mean HUGE. Her baby wasn’t even 6lbs at birth!

some people just carry well. Be glad! 🙂

I wouldn’t worry OP I was tiny with my first 8 lb + baby. If I could find it I’d put up a photo taken of me a few days before I went into hospital when you’d be hard pressed to see my bump.
Wifh baby number 2 who was a few ounces heavier and of the opposite sex I was huge. I’m 5’2 and looked like Humpty Dumpty. Same with baby number 3. With number 4 I was nowhere near as big but definitely not as tiny as I was with baby No 1. Baby number 4 was just under 9lbs

Bump size is no indication about size of baby, don't worry about it

Btowngirl · 15/03/2025 19:07

my bump wasn’t huge and bubba was 8lb6! My friends baby was 1lb smaller & she carried huge so it’s definitely not a predictor!

I'm slim and my bump was mahooosive with baby 2. She weighed 6 lbs on the dot!

My bump was tiny with both my kids, had to have growth scans with both. Both normal sizes.

I don’t show much and babies perfectly average sizes between 7.5 and 8.14
