Sleeping positions early pregnancy?

Hi all,

I'm 7 weeks and 2 days pregnant and really struggling to sleep. I wake up every hour panicking that I've spent too long on my back or right side. Is this something I need to worry about so early on. If not, from what stage of pregnancy is this actually a problem?

Calm your heart and snuggle however you feel comfortable. The anxiety women are goaded into! Get a pregnancy pillow and curl up on that.

Doesn’t matter at this stage. My advice would be sleep in whatever position is comfortable for you. You need to be getting all the sleep you can!

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

The research about not sleeping on back is just for the third trimester. Though personally I was too uncomfortable sleeping on my back by that point anyway.

My midwife said sleeping positions don't matter until 28 weeks. At this stage go for anything you feel comfortable with.

It sounds more like insomnia. I've suffered in the first and third trimesters.
Another wonderful symptom of pregnancy, I'm afraid!

Congrats on the pregnancy. Sleeping position doesn’t matter this early on. It’s only a concern when the baby is bigger / heavier.

I’m 20 weeks and still prefer sleeping on my back!

I was at an antenatal class yesterday and told that from 28 weeks, try to sleep on your side and that either side is fine. If you do wake up on your back, don't worry, just switch to your side.
