So I’m currently 4 weeks 2 days pregnant.
I tested positive veryyy early at 2+ 4 which I thought was weird but I had 6 positive tests each with dark lines on different days.

I’ve been testing with Amazon cheapies (I’ve used them in the past & no problems) but today I wanted to use a clear blue. Instead of a thick line like all the rest of them I got this dark blue but thin line. It showed in the time frame but my question is, why is it so thin?

I have all the pregnancy symptoms, tender nipples, sore breasts, insaneeee fatigue, the many many trips to the bathroom & of course countless positive results.

So the picture with the chocolate milk in the back was some on Friday with the Amazon test.
ClearBlue was done tonight at 9pm

I think all tests are different, some of my mine were thin some were thick, they did get gradually darker the further along I got, so I took that as a good sign! Currently 37 weeks so it was definitely positive ha :)
I would say it's okay! Maybe do another one in a few days? Just for reassurance. Plus use your morning pee!

I thought the same thing. I guess I’m just on edge because I unfortunately suffer from recurring miscarriages. I did also get some very light pink spotting today, only shows when I wipe sometimes.
I have an early scan booked in for the 26th so fingers crossed I guess.

Also congratulations 🥳 wishing you a safe delivery & a happy healthy baby

I had light spotting with this baby too I was a nervous wreck, but thankfully all was okay 🥰 keep testing and all the luck in the world for your scan !!! 🤞🫶

It’s physically impossible to get a positive test at what would be 2.4. So you must have ovulated earlier and be further along. But obviously for now and early dating purposes you use past period but you will be further along than 4.2.

I personally would just get a digital test to confirm. Ideally one with the weeks indicator to see how far along that says you are.

I thought the same thing. I had to of ovulated earlier than expected but I tracked my cycle & it peaked on Feb 21st & based on my last period which was Feb 12th the calculations said I’m currently 4+3 today.
I guess my scan at what I was assuming would have been 6 weeks would shed more light on exactly how far along I am.
I was thinking to purchase a
Clearblue weeks indicator test but wouldn’t it only say 3+ weeks? That’s not really helpful 🙈
If you know of any other brand that gives a slightly better prediction please drop a suggestion 🤞🏾😌

Well don’t do a digital test then if it won’t be helpful to you. At 4-5 weeks it won’t say 3+ though. The digital tests are going by conception not last period. So 3+ on a digital is at least 5 weeks in dating terms. Other than getting a blood test there’s no other way to find out your HCG levels and how far along you might be. Even then HCG varies a lot so until you can have a scan you won’t know. I just don’t trust clearblue line tests unless the line is dark and thick so would always use a digital to confirm. But if you don’t want to then don’t.

A pregnancy calculator will always date from last period so yes you are officially 4.2. But they estimate you ovulate on CD14. By your peak you ovulated around CD10. So that’s already 4 days earlier than the “average” they use to calculate. That’ll bring you to 4.6.

The earliest you could have got a positive test if your ovulation was correct would be the 28th February. Even that would be very unusual. If you got a positive any earlier than that I’d be questioning whether you ovulated earlier and missed another peak or something.

Just thought I'd add after reading other comments regarding how far along you are/vs how you tested so early. I got pregnanct via artificial insemination and only had 1 insemination. This was done on the 10th of July, I tested positive on the 20th of July, literally 10 days! Never believed it possible but I did. My dating scan confirmed pretty much identical timing to my last period/ovulation etc.

10 days past ovulation/insemination is perfectly normal to test positive. A lot of people will test positive at this point. I did for both my pregnancies.

Pregnancy is dated from last period. So for someone with an average cycle for two weeks you are not pregnant even though it’s dated that way. So if you have a period on 1st March and ovulate on 14th March, you can test positive on about 22nd-28th March. So you have a 28 day cycle, you are classed as 4 weeks pregnant the day you miss your period. But you didn’t ovulate until 2 weeks ago. You were physically not pregnant for the first two weeks for those 4 weeks. And even after conception it takes 5 days for the embryo to grow and start implanting. So for the first 4 weeks of pregnancy you are hardly pregnant for any of it really.

You got a positive test 10 days after conception. Perfectly normal. The OP is saying she got a positive test at 4 days past conception (2.4 weeks pregnant) which is impossible. Which is why she must have ovulated earlier than the average.

Ahhhh that's what I didn't understand my apologies! I misread I thought she said she tested 2 weeks after ovulation, my mistake :)

Oh okay that makes sense, I wasn’t sure how the digital weeks indicator test worked. I’ve only ever used it once & I was 5 weeks along & had an early scan which confirmed. That was in November 2024 but I miscarried at 9 weeks due to a big subchrionic hematoma.

I'm going to call my EPU tomorrow & I’ll also grab a digital test while I’m out shopping.
I probably did ovulate earlier than I thought.

little back story & maybe it might clear up why I’m confused as to how far along I am & when I ovulated.
January 28th I ovulated, on the 29th me & my girlfriend used AI which resulted in a pregnancy. On February 12th I had an early miscarriage but only bled for 2 days, no cramping or pain. As I’ve said above I suffer from recurring miscarriages (I’ve had 4 in a row)
So I started tracking my cycle again & my predicted fertile window which from my app showed the dates February 21st - February 26th. We inseminated twice with our donor via AI once on the 21st & again on the 23rd. I tested positive on March 2nd but again, I thought that was odd because of how early on it was.

Because I never actually had a period in February my dates are all messed up. My last official period was January 16th - January 20th

See how dark my ovulation test was on the 21st

Could February 12th bleed be implantation bleeding?

And you are actually 6 weeks? Which would make more sense for testing and the darkness of your tests?

This would make more sense to me as well.

I will admit the whole thing is quite confusing.

When you say you had an early miscarriage in February, what day did you first test positive? Did you retest to confirm it was negative after the bleed? Lots of people bleed around the time they would get a period. And a two day no cramping bleed could easily be implantation or a haematoma or even just a random bleed.

I thought the same but I tested a few days after the bleed & got a negative result. My GP also sent to for bloods to check my hormones & my levels were that of a none pregnant person

I’m confused too 🙈

So I tested positive at 10dpo which was the 7th, my period was supposed to be due on February 13th but I bled on the 12th - 14th, it wasn’t heavy so I did suspect maybe implantation bleeding. But when I tested again a few days later it was negative.
My gp sent me for bloods on Monday 17th February & my progesterone was 1.6
My mind started thinking maybe I had a false positive because even if it was a chemical pregnancy surely my hormone levels wouldn’t be so low so quickly.

I normally have very regular periods, I track my cycle every month so I’m not caught off guard by my period & it normally lasts 4-5 days with a light to medium flow.

Thank God for mychart but they didn’t upload my blood hcg results only my progesterone ones

I was trying to find a picture of my Feb test but I don’t have one

I think I’d use the digital and see what that says first, then book again with the GP for a blood test.
