Hi all

Name changed as have spoken to some family about this!

I'll preface by saying that my periods are always all over the place and it is not unusual for me to go to 50 day cycles, it's always been that way for me and is normal for my body.

Last Monday I took a pregnancy test, it was a clear blue ultra early, I was on day 42 so thought I would just test to make sure. Nothing came up in the time frame however following a shower I happened to glance again as I was binning the test and there was a faint blue very very thin line. This was about an hour after taking the test and there was nothing there at the 20 min mark so developed after this time.

Come last Thursday I took another test, again nothing came up in the time frame but then about 25 mins after I took the test a very thin blue line appeared again, I then took a first response pink dye test and a digital and both came up as very clear negatives.

Saturday I took another ultra early and again after about 10 mins the same very thin blue line came up so still outside the testing window but a bit quicker but the first response was again negative.

Sunday I came on and have had a normal length period with no differences to normal.

Today I took a first response and a clear blue (but not ultra early) to just double check and both are clearly negative even after leaving for a long period of time.

What is going on!! The blue lines were literally like someone had drawn it on with a thin biro but nothing more and the first responses and other normal clear blues have all been negative.

I would have thought that after a week and a half it would have shown stronger/appeared in a first response/normal clear blue?

Anyone had anything similar?

Hi OP. Those Clear Blue tests are notorious for evap lines. From what you're describing it sounds like evap lines, especially since you've had other completely negative tests. You also really have to disregard anything outside the time frame for showing up. I don't think you're pregnant, particularly considering you had your period last week.

Thanks @SureLook. I truly didn't intend to read it late the first time just one of those glancing things. All other tests have defo been negative.

I didn't feel any different or have any symptoms that would make me think I was pregnant literally just took one out of habit when it goes over 49 days.

I understand. Honestly, I would throw away those Clear Blue dye ones and stick with pink dye. Clear Blue digital are good, though. I save them for when I'm pretty much 100% sure 😂
I hope you're not too disappointed. I assume you are TTC?x

The thin line seems a really common problem with those tests :/ I think the line has to be thick and blue to be read as a positive. I've always had reliable, early results with Easy at home pink dye tests. Sorry OP, it really seems like those clearblue tests cause a lot of confusion and disappointment. :( xx

As others have said, those tests are quite well known for developing evap lines outside the initial testing time frame. You need to disregard a test if the line doesn't come up within the stated time.
