Hi everyone,

I’m 8 weeks pregnant and yesterday started having sharp shooting pains in my stomach and groin area. They come and go and last about 10 seconds, yesterday it felt like they were in my leg too!

had anyone experienced this and knows what it could be?

thank you!

Sounds like it could be round ligament pain.
It can be really sharp sometimes and can take your breath away.

It's more common in the second trimester but can happen much earlier

Look up lighting crotch-I used to get sharp pains in my groin early in my pregnancy and would stop me in my tracks. Used to get general aches a pains there too. If your not experiencing any bleeding or loss of symptoms I wouldn't worry too much. Even though you're early you can ring the community midwives for ease of mind though! Had my first in September but I had brown spotting at 8 weeks, rang and they eased my mind so much. They are always happy to help.

I started having that at the beginning of week 8 and it was quite painful at times, it now subsided quite a bit and I had a scan showing baby is perfectly fine.

It'll just be your muscles starting the stretch. Is it your first? I just had my first DD in September and I panicked at every twinge and every strange feeling. Your bodies going through something so new it's just adjusting and some people feel symptoms like that earlier than others. I certainly did!

That would make sense! Every twinge at this early stage makes me worry!

yeah this is my first :)
