So I’m expecting #2 and definitely need to look into changing my car. We need something big enough for 2 car seats (eldest will be 3 around the time baby is born) and space for my stepson who is 10. Also need a big boot to fit a dog.

I have no idea where to start. Hit me with your big family car recommendations. I’m wondering if we need a 7 seater. If we had 3 full time children I would say yes but stepson is only with us 2 days a week so wondering if a 5 seater will do.

Big downside of lots of 7 seaters is if the third row is basically your boot space as then you've got no space for pram, baby stuff etc.

I don't have an answer tho as we're in a similar position! Have a 6 and 10 year old half the time and will have a new baby in the summer

It doesn't sound as though you need a seven seater though. We have two large RF baby seats on the back seat and there is room [fixings] for a third, or room for an adult [me, bmi 31] to sit in the third space. Our car is a seven seater but we never use the boot seats. Actually we used them once, and there was still enough boot space. They were a faff to get into, ideal for a small teen, but we find we don't need them.

Mitsubishi outlander, super safe with huge boot that could fit a pram and a dog. We have two car seats and step son in middle too who's aged 9.
