Nausea, vomiting and lack of smell/taste

Has anyone had similar?
Im pregnant with my second and have been struggling since day one with nausea and vomiting. It mainly occurs in the evening. I have been on medication since 6 weeks which is helping, i think, to some extent.

However Im struggling to smell or taste anything. Things I can taste seem weird and not how I expect them to taste and its really putting me off food.
I didnt have this in my first pregnancy so no idea if this is just another random pregnancy symptom or not.

Anyone had the same?

My two pregnancies have been complete polar opposites symptoms wise even though they're the same sex!

Second time round I've had the same as you are describing and it's lasted most of the pregnancy (I'm now 38 weeks!).

Really hoping the taste/smell thing goes back to normal once I've given birth as I've struggled to enjoy food properly because of it (combined with the sickness and acid reflux).
My sister however still has no sense of smell 11 years later!

Thanks for replying! I had hyperemesis with my first pregnancy and lost a heap of weight which wasnt fun. While the nausea in the early days with this pregnancy was bad, i feel it is just getting worse and its lasting alot of the day.
The taste and smell issue is just weird and its really off putting.
I really hope it eases but pregnancy 1, I had hyperemesis for the whole 38 weeks!

I'd definitely recommend speaking with the pregnancy sickness support charity, it's free and you can message them on WhatsApp. They're amazing!

It may be worth trying a different medication, first one I was on only helped a little, second one has been a massive help and even then we had a plan to add another on top if it was needed (I'm now 19 weeks and it's easing up so not needed I hope!)

I was switched to Zonvea by the EPU due to the consistent nausea and evening vomiting. It has helped to some extent, not being sick as much but still have nausea in the afternoons/evenings.
I still cant really taste or smell anything which is just weird. Didnt have this in my previous pregnancy either.
Im able to eat a little better but still not great. I guess it is a bit of a step in the right direction at least!
