So this is abit of a long one but I had a early scan due to a little bit of bleeding, I had my scan at 5 weeks 1 day, they couldn't find anything in my uterus but seen something that resembled a yolk sac on my left fallopian tube, I was immediately sent down for a blood test and had a hcg reading of 1630 and I was told I could have key hole surgery that night or wait until Wednesday to have the injection instead as to which I decided to save my tube I'd have the injection instead, so I go back on Wednesday expecting to have the injection they decided to take my bloods again which came back a reading of 2657 hcg which is only a 63% increase and not 66% which they say they like to see.. the doctor i seen on the Wednesday described my ectopic as a cyst like object that could resemble a yolk sac close to my ovary and wasn't sure if it is an ectopic therefore sent me away without the injection and will do bloods again in 48 hours, I'm so confused and just wondering if anyone has had any similar situations that ended positive or negative. Thanks for reading:)

Hey. I’m in a similar position but with much lower HCG. Also have a “cyst-like” thing that they’re not sure about so I’m being monitored every 48 hours. My HCG is really inconsistent. Hope you’re ok. It’s really horrible when you get a little glimmer of hope.

DCmum95 · 13/03/2025 20:04

Hi, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I am also going through something very similar. I had bleeding and went to epu - my HCG was quite low and they couldn’t see anything other than a cyst on my ovary and diagnosed with “pregnancy in unknown location” however they monitored my bloods and they doubled in 48 hours which they don’t typically expect for an ectopic. They have sent me away for a week and I am being rescanned on Wednesday as by then something should’ve seen.

I would definitely ask to be rescanned prior to any procedure just to be 100% certain. Xx

I'm so sorry this is happening to you aswel, it is so so scary and having to wait each time after having bloods is so hard to do! I'm hoping everything works out for you 🙏 🤞 xx

So sorry your going through the same thing, it is so disheartening to go through! What have your hcg levels been if you don't mind me asking? I'm back in today for more bloods and if they have doubled I'm definitely asking for another scan, I've not been in any pain or had bleeding for almost a week now🙏xx

Mine was 643 then it went up to 1408 after 48 hours. I was supposed to be 6 weeks exactly when they took the 643 bloods which they said were way too low but then the 1408 although low, the fact it has doubled is good news. The waiting is awful I am just desperate to get to the scan on Wednesday but also don’t want to get hopeful!
let us know the results of your blood work xx

Unfortunately it was an ectopic and it had grew quite abit from my first scan😔 hcg levels rose to 4300 and baby had a fetal pole, I had a choice of the injection or surgery but I chose surgery as they said because of the growth of the fetus that the injection had a higher chance of not working, I came out of surgery an hour ago just received its all over with 😊 xx

I’m so so sorry to hear this, although a relief that you were able to have the surgery quickly and hopefully begin your recovery now. Can I ask, did they see the ectopic on a vaginal scan? I am due mine Wednesday and they say a cyst on my ovary when I went but didn’t say if they looked in my tube or anything. I hope you are feeling ok and have lots of support around you. Take it easy xx

Diamond89 · 14/03/2025 22:26

Sorry to hear that. Hope you’re doing ok. I’m glad they got you in quickly. I’m expectantly managing at the moment but I don’t know how long it’ll go on for 🤦‍♀️ my HCG is much lower than yours but keeps rising. I was going to go with the injection until the consultant mentioned the impact on liver and kidneys (issues with which both run in my family). I’m back for bloods on Weds and for a scan.

Luckily they were really quick with getting me down to surgery luckily and I'm so surprised at how well I'm feeling atm, I get to go home in the morning 🤞 they did see it on the vaginal scan, I asked to see it and it looks quite similar to what you'd see on a normal scan, I really hope you get good news on Wednesday, I wouldn't wish this on anyone xx

It's a good sign if they keep rising! Try to keep busy and stay positive even though it's easier said than done, I don't like the sound of the injection at all after talking to a nurse about it today it sounds like it's abit of a risk to have the injection over surgery because your not guaranteed anything whereas with surgery it's removed right away and no risk of it rupturing whilst you wait for the injection to kick in, I was petrified of surgery but in all honesty I'm so so glad I had it over injection it wasn't half as bad as what I thought and I seem to be really well in myself atm and I even turned down pain medication about half hour ago because I've got no pain xx

I hope you’re ok. I have a scan on Wednesday too. What were your HCG levels last? Have they been doubling? I hope everything is ok for you. I’ve started to get a stitch pain which is making me nervous and worried even more! Wednesday can’t come soon enough

Diamond89 · 15/03/2025 22:16

No not doubling but not dropping either. Started spotting this evening so hoping it’s over and done with soon and not too painful

Hope you’re doing ok? I’m back in repeat bloods tomorrow. Started spotting and had a bit of cramping so thought things were going to start moving and now it’s stopped 🤦‍♀️

I'm doing okay thanks so much for asking, I'm managing to get up and about alot more than I thought, today I've started bleeding as expected but nothing major, I'm really struggling with the blood thinner injections that they give you for 6 weeks though! They are a killer! Please let me know how your appointment goes🤞🤞 hopefully your bleeding is nothing serious 🙏 xx

It went well thank you! They saw yolk sac with fetal pole inthe right place. So relieved I don’t have to have more surgery etc after my last miscarriage. No heartbeat so it’s now considered ‘pregnancy of unknown viability’ which sounds scary but praying it’s just too early. Another scan in 2 weeks. I hope you are doing as well as you can be! Xxx.

Amazing! I bet you feel so much better now your reassured! That happened with my lil girl there was yolk sac and fetal pole but no heartbeat but I went back a couple weeks later and the heartbeat was strong as ever! 😊 I'm doing good thank you! Recovery is going really good so glad I can put all this behind me now and try again in a few months 🤞 xx

Yeah I feel miles better thank you!! I’m so glad you’re feeling better. It’s hard to think but i found a lot of comfort in knowing that it was all over (not in a horrible way!) but you can take a few months and try again xxx
