Balloon induction stories?

Being induced at 39 weeks using the balloon method on Sunday due to preeclampsia and feeling a bit nervous! In at 9am on Sunday to have it fitted then back in on Monday to hopefully have waters broken. Had a sweep today which hasn't done much as of yet, was 1cm dilated. Looking for some experiences of the balloon! :)

Can I ask if they explained to you why they have chosen the balloon method? It's not a super common way of inducing pregnancy, espcially for a first timer.

I had it - I was 39 weeks on the dot and it was my first baby. I was persuaded to induce because he wqs measuring large and they were concerned he would get stuck if he grew bigger.

It wasn't too bad being put in, but I was very aware of it the whole time. It caused some bleeding anf contraction-like cramps, which apparently is normal.

Unfortunately, after 24 hours, it had done nothing towards inducing labour (but neither did 2 further attempts with the other induction method. I just don't think my body or my baby were ready for labour and were being stubborn!)

The balloon worked great for me. Was put in around 9.30pm and fell out itself after about 12 hours. Had my little boy another 12 hours later 😊
