Umbilical Cord “Restriction” on Doppler ultrasound

Had a growth scan today at 36 weeks and growth is normal but they noted a slight ‘restriction’ in the umbilical flow, I’ve got another scan next week booked in now but am worried about what this means. Has anyone had this and it been ok? They didn’t seem too worried because baby’s still growing but I’m assuming it’s not good??

Hello, I work in ultrasound and this could mean a couple of things. However if they’re not seeing you within the next few days, I imagine they’re not overly concerned. A restriction of a cord could mean that it is too long or too short, not connecting well to your placenta or getting knotted. However if it was knotted or squeezed they would most likely deliver your baby sooner. I imagine it was more positional, and they’ll hopefully notice a positive change in your next scan. Keep watching movements and any changes or worries, get checked x

@PumpkinSpicedLatte thank you! They said it was only slightly abnormal and baby is breech if that makes any difference?! I’m a worrier though 🫣 will keep a close eye on movements
