Pregnancy after a missed miscarriage - measuring behind slightly

Hi, I had a mmc recently I carried until
10 w but baby hadn’t grown past 6

I have recently found out I’m pregnant again and I am so anxious - I ovulated 3 days later than day 14 so I knew my dates would be slightly off however I thought I should have been 6 weeks the day I had my scan - they did an abdominal scan and said I was measuring at 5 1/2 weeks but I got to see the heart beat

however I am stressing as I know based on ovulation I should have been 6 - had she have done a transvaginal scan may the measurements have been different?

has anyone else experienced this I’m just so scared to go back and have another scan and be told what I don’t want to hear

looking for positive similar stories if u have any to share - thank you ❤️

3/4 days difference is nothing at this stage - they are measuring fractions of millimetres! Also, abdominal is not as accurate as transvaginal so early on.
Have you been invited back for a follow up in a few weeks to check the progress?

Hello thank you - an unfortunately not they discharged me as they detected a viable pregnancy due to seeing the heartbeat I am half tempted to book a private’s scan but that’s where i
found out the awful news last time and can’t bear the thought of it really - such an anxious time

Yes! Embryo was just a foetal pole measuring 5 weeks and I thought I was 5w6d, he's almost a teen now and very tall 🥰 good luck

If you do decide to go private then leave it at least 2 weeks - the machines used can be very different plus the sonographer so that can cause even more confusing and anxiety.

This is why they don't give an official due date until the 12 week dating scan as its so hard to get accurate measurements at this stage. There was 5 days difference between my early scans and the 12 week one (I'm now 37 weeks)

@c644775 This happened to me today too, I know I'm 6+5 and the sac measured as expected but fetus measured 5+6. So almost a week out

I panicked and thought it was a goner, but then I called the EPU and got a call back and she told me that it's not unusual for them to be a week behind at this stage.

I do have a follow up scan booked for next Monday though (it was all done privately in my case) and I'm very glad I do because then I'll be able to see if the delay has got worse or better.

I hope you get the reassurance you need. Wishing you all the best x

I’ve seen measurements have a whole week difference between abdominal and transvaginal. Seeing a heartbeat is a very good sign.

Just to update everything was fine - I was actually further on like I thought as I jumped forward at my next scan - I’m 30 weeks now and baby girl is actually measuring a week ahead as far as I know from my 20 week scan - I remember I was so anxious after this so wanted to update for if anyone else is searching this topic and panicking in the same situation x
