I’m sure this was some sort of skin tag, I’ve never really noticed it because it has been at the top of my leg at the back, but now it’s got a lot bigger, I’m 7 months pregnant, will pregnancy make moles bigger, like I said I’ve never noticed this before other than being a skin tag now I’m freaked out

My moles and skin tags all went a bit crazy when I was pregnant- not sure how typical that is. Maybe get it checked out just for peace of mind anyway.

Hey. So we’re around the same gestation. I was diagnosed with melanoma fairly early in this pregnancy. My understanding from what’s been said to me is that pregnancy can change the size and appearance of moles which can complicate diagnosis, however purely on an appearance basis; the hormones related with pregnancy do not lead to increased incidence of melanoma. So - it COULD be completely normal and harmless however, the impact of it if it is something more than that is not worth the risk. Always get it checked out when there’s changes, particularly if they’re worrying you. I’d personally also say to be politely pushy and get an opinion from dermatology and not just your GP. I think that sadly these things are dismissed too often by GP surgeries.

My pigmentation got considerably worse during pregnancy, but I never developed moles. I would recommend that you get it checked right away.

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Did u have a mole that changed size or anything, I’m so worried as my one has got rather large, I’m not sure if it’s where I’ve put on a lot off weight and it has stretched

Thanks for everyone’s replies I will be getting this checked out asap as I previously have mentioned I’ve never really noticed it before and I’m very alarmed I’m not sure if it’s where I’ve gained weight or what

Hi thanks for the reply, what do you mean by crazy. Like getting bigger crazy? I have read pregnancy and hormones make moles grow

I’m so worried after seeing it earlier, having health anxiety don’t help either

I found that I got lots of new skin tags and as I remember some moles darkened too. I can't specifically remember if moles grew - as you say, it's hard to tell when lots of things are stretching and growing during pregnancy. Not sure where you are based but you can pay around £50 to have a single mole assessed at The Mole Clinic. I've done that before when I've been very anxious and not wanting to wait for gp/referral.

Try not to worry- I know it's hard with these things. You can have someone look at it this week and hopefully put your mind at rest.

I’m currently trying to find a place near me that check moles just so I don’t have to wait ages for gp, I’ll try not to worry I’m just very alarmed

I was too early in the pregnancy for it to have changed with pregnancy but it did change size/colour before that (and was continuously). I have got a lot of marks on my skin that have changed with pregnancy however - I get full body checks regularly now and it’s making it a little tricky to pinpoint what is concerning and needs dealt with immediately and what can wait. I know that many of these changes are deemed normal though so don’t panic but do continue with your plan to get checked for peace of mind if nothing else

@TeaNtoast25 I have health anxiety, too - it's been awful during pregnancy. ❤️

I went to doctor a few weeks ago because I had dozens of moles literally overnight - doc said to take photos and keep an eye on them in case of growth. Doc did say hormones play a big part in moles so try not to panic.

You should be seen quickly for a mole change anyway, but mention that you're anxious and that it used to be a skin tag. Your mental health is important so they should see you to check on you.
