What are the antibiotics for? I would go back to the GP since they don't appear to have worked

Kyy · 08/03/2025 20:12

Just because she couldn't find anything wrong but my temperature was saying something wasn't right I'm so worried.

Do you have any other symptoms, do you feel unwell or is it an asymptomatic fever? Have you tried to use a different thermometer in case the one you have been using is faulty? Perhaps give your midwife helpline a call if you are concerned also.

Kyy · 08/03/2025 20:58

I have been so unwell and every day I wake up feeling better then I get worse during the day ,this is why I went to doctors they said they couldn't find anything that would me making ne so poorly so gave me antibiotics but there not working I have had such an awful pregnancy

I think you need to go back to the doctor? Generally a high fever isn’t great in early pregnancy though it can be dangerous for the baby.

Tshirt6 · 08/03/2025 21:04

But if you’re feeling unwell it might also be the pregnancy making you feel like this! Did the gp say you had a fever?

Kyy · 08/03/2025 21:04

I will definitely give out of hours a ring I think I'm scared for the baby

Yes she said I had a temp but no other symptoms I'm so worried

I think you need to go back tbh, I would call out of hours and explain you’re pregnant.

sel2223 · 08/03/2025 21:18

I have had such an awful pregnancy

What has been awful? You said there was an unexplained fever but no other symptoms?

For the temp, you need to get back on to the GP.
Do you have a follow up scan booked?
A booking in appointment?

The first trimester in general can be pretty brutal - many women suffer from sickness and/or nausea, extreme fatigue, digestive issues, various aches and pains, insomnia, headaches, food aversions etc

Tshirt6 · 08/03/2025 21:22

When you say you feel awful, aside from the temperature, what are your symptoms? As I felt horrendous in my first trimester and not just sick. Exhausted, achy, bloated, cold, headachy.

Kyy · 08/03/2025 21:36

All those systems I never had it on my younger 2 the doctor said it wad my body thinking it was still a multiple pregnancy as the sacs where still growing I have rang out of hours honestly I have never felt so poorly in my life headache cough achy all over I'm so worried there's something seriously wrong with us both

I told the doctor how I felt and she said my chest, ears ect seemed fine but I did have a temp they said I have to wait for a 12 week scan now as seeing one baby on a scan sometimes will be more on the 12 week but highly unlikely they gave me higher foil at my scan but that was it .

Try not to worry, what you are describing is normal for a lot of women in the first trimester.

My pregnancies have been completely different..... I've felt much worse this time round (37 weeks now and still being sick just one example).

Try to get plenty rest, stay hydrated and listen to your body. You can also take paracetamol if needed which won't cure you but will hopefully take the edge off your symptoms and make everything a bit more bearable.

Thankyou so much I needed the advice more tonight then ever Thankyou

I know you're early pregnancy but does your maternity unit triage early pregnancy? Infection in a pregnant woman can become serious if not treated properly. You really need a proper work up to find out if there is an infection somewhere and try to get to the bottom of it. Swabs, urine, bloods to cover all your bases. Possibly viral but probably need to rule out anything else first since it's gone on so long. Fever for so long in the first trimester isn't ideal at all and your GP hasn't taken this seriously enough in my opinion. I hope out of hours give you some guidance. If not I'd contact maternity triage.
