I had a cp in Dec 24 and just found out on Tuesday that I am pregnant again. I will be around 4 weeks 4 days currently and have tested each day since Tuesday. My tests don't seem to be getting any dark (photo attached) and I am also have lower abdomen/ hip cramps (more like a mild burning feeling). I've had the cramps since the Friday before my positive result on Tuesday. Any stories like this? Convinced its another cp!

They don't look like a chemical to me but I'd advise you to chose one brand and stick with it if you want to track line progression x

remaininghopeful23 · 07/03/2025 16:25

In the 2 that are the same brand the line definitely looks to be getting darker! However it's impossible to compare different brands as so many variables (colour/shade of dye, amount of dye used, amount of urine the test absorbs etc.). HCG doesn't double for 48 hours so I would suggest buy only the same type of test and leave 48 hours between testing. Sorry to hear of your previous loss. Testing doesn't predict outcome at all so in an ideal world we'd be telling you not to keep testing, but off the back of a loss I know that's not what will sit right with you. Best of luck and congratulations OP.

Thanks both. It's hard not to worry about another chemical expecially with having some cramping aswell. Trying to remain positive. I did think it might differ slightly with different brands but they just don't seem to be very dark when I compare on some other people's I've seen on here. Praying the cramps are nothing and it will work out!

I’m 8 weeks and still have cramping and it’s completely normal. To test progression you need to use same tests and do them in the morning. Compare tests every other day.

Ie1 · 07/03/2025 19:07

@emmatcc1 how do your cramps feel? Mine are like a burning sensation. They aren't painful as such, just aware they are there. Cramping is my only symptom really I don't have sore boobs or nausea. That combined with the light tests is worrying me especially with having a cp just 12 weeks ago.

I had cramping at 4.5 weeks. I didn’t know I was pregnant at the time and was convinced I wasn’t. I had bloating and cramps, a bit hormonal too so I assumed it was my period coming. Until the positive result came… I was in absolute shock. I was convinced that the cramping was AF coming it felt like every other month, but nope, just a baby getting comfy 🥰 29 weeks tomorrow!
Best of luck 🍀

Ie1 · 07/03/2025 20:27

@Kaybee1989 thats reassuring 🥰 thanks.. & Congratulations! My cramps have been everyday since about a week ago, before I even knew I was pregnant! I'm hoping it's just baby getting comfy. I've no other symptoms and with the faint tests I'm getting a bit worried. Doesn't help that I has a cp in December so I'm worried it will happen again x

@Ie1 my cramps were period type of cramps along with some sharp uterus pains. Definitely worse in the first weeks.

Chillid123 · 08/03/2025 04:06

Cramping is baby embedding and your uterus stretching. I had cramping (stretching/tender sensation) through a lot of my last pregnancy so as long as it’s not getting worse or accompanied by blood, I just remind myself it’s a good sign something is happening. Nausea etc didn’t start for me until week 6.

Does it feel like your CP? (Mine wasn’t notably different from a normal period)

Ie1 · 08/03/2025 05:39

Thanks for the reply. The cramps feel the same as my chemical did and the same as the cramps I get before a period (both felt the same). I'm trying to stay hopeful but off the back of a chemical it's hard!

This is this mornings. No difference in the line, they are still pretty faint! But I have got a 2-3 on a digital now (had a 1-2 on tuesday) so I guess hcg must be going up which is good news! Hopefully these cramps are just baby getting settled in and my body adapting. I don't remember them with my other 2 children (12 and 9) but remember them being similar with my chemical so my anxieties kicked straight in.

@Ie1 it might be the strips you’re using are bad at showing progression. Maybe try a different brand?

Ie1 · 08/03/2025 06:07

@emmatcc1 yes possibly. I think I will leave it a few days and try another digital mid next week and see if it says 3+ as I should be 5 weeks on Tuesday. It's good to know about the cramps, I don't feel like they're mentioned enough. Everything i read says they should only be present at implantation but I've had them for a week everyday!

OP posts:
Chillid123 · 08/03/2025 10:30

I didn’t get a very dark line on the cheap strip tests until today (19dp), CB and FRER have been quicker. It was the same last time.

id trust the digital and take the next one comfortably after it is supposed to flick over to 3 weeks (I’m waiting until 5+3)

DCmum95 · 08/03/2025 12:23

I am experiencing the exact same as you (minus the cramps) re faint tests! I think my tests are the same brand as yours but seem so faint and im worried it’s a sign of a chemical pregnancy or baby not growing correctly etc. I’ve had a 2-3 on a clearblue this morning which is positive. I should be about 5 weeks this morning. It is so scary, im with you x

Ie1 · 09/03/2025 00:23

Thank you @Chillid123 I am going to leave it until Wednesday and test again as I'm going to drive myself mad

OP posts:

It's a worry isn't it @DCmum95 I've been awful thinking it's another cp. My tests are the clear and simple test strips from asda there like £1.75 for 3 so probably not made that great! I'm going to leave it a couple of days and test again. I had a 2-3 on a cb digital this morning so that's made me feel better as it was 1-2 on Tuesday x
