Birdseye frozen battered pollock

I think I might’ve eaten a few fillets of under baked battered frozen pollock. Worried about listeria…
I thought I left it in long enough as it browned from the outside but the inside seemed a bit mushy.

If the outside got to the stage of browning it's very unlikely that the inside wasn't cooked. Was it cool inside or hot? Lots of frozen fish has that mushy texture inside so I wouldn't worry.

Pollock is mushy.

It was a bit grey as well and yes it completely cooked on the outside to the point where it was crunchy…

it looked like this:

What's done is done, just move on from it.
The risk is tiny anyway and there's no point working yourself up over things you can't go back and change

I can appreciate that but I’ve got really bad OCD and I am just trying to find that reassurance for myself to the best of my abilities.

I wouldn't worry. I had severe OCD during my first pregnancy. You're going to be fine. Like my midwife once told me, babies in the womb and in general are really strong! I've seen so many women eat sushi when pregnant and they're all fine!

CraftyZebra · 07/03/2025 01:11

Thank you! From a reassurance perspective though does it look alright to have eaten?

It looks fine, fish doesn't take very long to cook anyway! I remember eating mushy fish from my chippy as well! If you're worried, definitely give your midwife a ring in the morning!

Ariadne08 · 07/03/2025 01:24

OP, it looks fine. I had food anxiety in pregnancy and it took over my life; seek therapy if you can - it helped me a lot.

The fish was cooked, so put it out of your mind now. Go to sleep! ❤️

If anything that looks a bit overcooked, pollock is a bit grey looking anyway.

You will be fine, relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

Thank you all so much! I really just appreciate the kind words. Really trying to start enjoying the small things and working with a therapist to support but some days I find myself sneaking backwards.
