Hiya I've got a bit of a situation I found out I was pregnant 23feb positives tests and everything went into a&e on the 2nd for bleeding and low left side pain on! they done my bloods witch were at the time 136.3 HCG and progesterone 9 they done a scan but couldn't find anything:/
I went in yesterday to repeat the bloods and the HCG was 356.2 and progesterone 13 went again for a scan and they couldn't find anything😔 I'm so so confused cause never had this happen to me! I'm going back on Monday to repeat the bloods and scans! They said it might be " pregnancy of unknow location" or a miscarriage or a ectopic pregnancy or a very early pregnancy and they just can't see it on Tuesday I passed out something on my pad they doctors are not sure either what it is
I'm asking maybe something like this has happened to someone cause I'm really reallly concerned:( Sad

Oh bless you, this sounds so stressful. How far do you think you are or were you not tracking ovulation?

Xxmickixx · 06/03/2025 21:41

SadSadMy last period was 19th of January
I wasn't really tracking my ovulation just

All tests are positive till this day
I don't understand I'm so upset with all this :(

Sorry you're going through this @Xxmickixx it's normal for your test to still be positive even if you are having a loss. What exactly did you pass on your pad?

Xxmickixx · 06/03/2025 22:27

Looked like a clot with dark red I'm not too sure😫 the doctors haven't confirmed anything yet
See what the tests say on Monday Sad

Hcg doubling rate isn't great and is below range for 6 weeks. Pregnancy tests can still read positive for weeks after unfortunately. You should be 6 +2 . Do you have irregular periods?

Xxmickixx · 07/03/2025 06:07

Yep always regular

OP posts:
SureLook · 07/03/2025 06:19

Have you had any bleeding or cramping? Passing a clot isn't a great sign unfortunately x

Xxmickixx · 07/03/2025 08:43

I wouldn't call it bleeding more spotting then bleeding and then that clot thing on Tuesday that passed out

TheQuietestSpace · 07/03/2025 08:49

Unfortunately this isn't a viable pregnancy, your HCG is not doubling. That either means that your body is already passing the baby, or it is in an unknown location i.e. ectopic. This may resolve itself, or may need further treatment. The clinic will support you with the pregnancy ending, but they are being unfair if they are letting you believe it may be viable. Pregnancy tests will stay positive for a while after a miscarriage so you need to go on the HCG numbers. X

Maybe you ovulated late this month and are just less than what you thought going by LMP? Did they mention if there was even some thickening of the uterus lining, an empty sac etc or was there literally nothing at all?

I really hope this is a positive outcome for you but I think you need to mentally prepare for every eventuality. It's so hard but really the only thing that will give you any answers now is time.

Good luck

Xxmickixx · 07/03/2025 16:49

No didn't say much tbh I'm going back on Monday for bloods and scans😫

OP posts:
Beeches24 · 07/03/2025 16:54

Your hcg needs to be at least 1000 to see anything on ultrasound. If your hcg is doubling it would exceed that by Monday. If your hcg is below that or you don't see anything it's unlikely to be viable.

Xxmickixx · 07/03/2025 18:29

Could I ovulated later ? And I'm just 3 weeks pregnant and that's why they can't see anything
I'm so confused in all of this as this never happend to me before

You said your last period was 19th January and this makes you 6w +5 days. Not 3 weeks.

SureLook · 07/03/2025 19:03

Those digital tests go from date of conception, not date of LMP. So you need to add a couple of weeks on but since your last period was 19th January you're nearly 7 weeks pregnant. I tested positive for nearly two weeks after my D&C at nearly 12 weeks and baby had passed at 7 weeks. Your test can stay positive for a long time.

If you got a positive test on 23rd February you had to be at least 4weeks pregnant at that stage. (Maybe just under if you tested early before your period was due.) Because as others have said pregnancy is always dated from your last period even though you physically were not pregnant for 2 of those weeks. So best case scenario, say you were 3.5 weeks on 23rd February, you are at least 5 weeks pregnant now. Probably coming up to 6 weeks.
The weeks indicator test goes by conception not proper dating. So when it says 2-3 weeks it really means 4-5 weeks.

Edited to clarify that this is going by possible ovulation dates and NOT last period dates. As a PP said by period dates you are almost 7 weeks. Going by test result it COULD be more like 6 weeks or just under. But no less.

sel2223 · 07/03/2025 19:28

Nobody on here is going to be able to tell you anything I'm afraid, you're just going to have to wait and see what happens on Monday.

On the one hand, your LMP puts you at almost 7 weeks pregnant by which time there should definitely be something to see on a scan. In a healthy pregnancy, your hcg numbers are also supposed to double every 48 hours which it doesn't seem like they have done given the info in your original post. This, combined with the right side pain and the clot, is not a great sign unfortunately.
As others have said, even if this is not good news, you can continue to get positive tests for weeks so that doesn't mean much I'm sorry to say.

On the other hand, as you weren't tracking, it is also possible you ovulated late this cycle. LMP is a guide only and not always accurate if your cycle is long or irregular - LMP would have put me at 8+2 at my first scan but my baby only measured 6+1. 2 weeks later she had grown proportionately and I'm now 37 weeks pregnant.
If you tested positive on 23rd Feb and, let's say you were only 9dpo at that time (unlikely but not unheard of), that would put you at only 5 weeks pregnant now which fits with the 2-3 weeks on the clearblue test (4-5 weeks pregnant) and would also mean you were too early to see anything at your first scan.

As I've said in my previous reply, you are going to have to prepare yourself for every eventuality on Monday. It could go either way.

So sorry to hear that, sending lots of hugs your way

I know it's hard right now and your emotions will be all over the place but please try not to be too despondent. At 25 you have lots of time on your side and this doesn't mean you won't be able to conceive naturally.
My cousin (aged 33) had an ectopic last year and surgery to remove one of her tubes. Absolutely devastating at the time but she fell pregnant again 3 months later and now has a beautiful 10 month old daughter.
And I'm here pregnant at 42 years old having conceived naturally.
Your turn will come.

Bless you. I had an ectopic at age 25. Tube and ovary removed. Had my first son a year later. Two sons both adults now. Don’t lose hope x

SureLook · 11/03/2025 12:07

I'm so sorry to hear that @Xxmickixx sending hugs. I haven't experienced an ectopic myself but I had an MMC diagnosed in January. You have loads of time on your side, it will happen for you x
