Cough relief when pregnant

Hi all I am currently 7 weeks pregnant and have had a horrible cough for about 3 days now, I cannot sleep because I’m up all night coughing, my throat is killing me, my stomach muscles are and so is my head. I keep having lemon and honey mixed in hot water to drink and I’ve taken paracetamol as well as used Vicks vaporub on my chest. I’m feeling very rubbish and was wondering if anyone can recommend anything that I can do to help symptoms?

Ahh bless you OP, feeling poorly while pregnant sucks!

Unfortunately, much like having a cough when not pregnant, there really isn't much you can do. The suggestions I had are what you are already doing anyway.

Just keep doing what you are doing and hopefully things will improve soon for you.

Try a facial steamer before bed. Should help with congestion. Liquorice and blackcurrant sweets might help too.

I had whooping cough whilst pregnant. All the GP could suggest was something called 'simple linctus' in hot black decaf tea with honey. It was revolting and did nothing.

I agree with steam, Vick, honey.
Try sleeping with several pillows to keep you more upright.

Camomile tea (anti-inflammatory & antibacterial) with honey (anti bacterial and soothing) this helped me bring up all the yucky from my chest and ease my lungs and throat. Some recommend fresh ginger too. Hope it clears up quickly!
