Flu again!

I am really not having a good pregnancy, I have pretty much been ill back to back since November from pregnancy related sickness and colds/ flu. I honestly feel like crying, I can't remember the last time I felt relatively normal.
Is there anything you can do to avoid getting ill?! It sucks because I can't even take any meds other than paracetamol which does nothing! I have a 2 year old that goes to nursery so I get he can pick things up and pass it into me but there must be something I can do to avoid catching anything. I'm also so sick of drinking lemon and honey tea 🤢

You honestly sound like me!! How many weeks are you? I’m 17+5 now.
I had pregnancy related sickness/ nausea the first 10 weeks.. but since then I have had this horrible sickness bug that’s going around, and then cold after cold 🤧 really bad cough etc.
I also have a 2 yo toddler and he is coming home every day I feel with something new and passing it over.
I went to the pharmacy/ spoke to GP trying to find something to help and they told me paracetamol, honey and lemon, plenty of fluids… other than that - ride it out!! 🤦🏻‍♀️
I definitely feel like I’m getting through the worst, but I know it’s a matter of time before the little one brings something else back from childcare.
Hope you feel better soon 🙏🏼🙏🏼

@Daniellalou it's just one thing after another isn't it! 😫🫠 I was 21 weeks yesterday, it has been hell from week 7! My first pregnancy was a dream, I didn't even feel pregnant but this time round I've had it all. Even the braxton hicks have started now, pains in lower back and pelvic area, now I have the flu!
Do you seem to get a worse strain of it every time as well? Like I swear my toddler and husband get a tiny little cold and then there's me with fever, aching, chills, bed bound etc.

The paracetamol and honey and lemon just don't work do they! I miss lemsip and night nurse! 😩

Oh I can relate. My toddler is two next month and he brings everything back from nursery. I have been on and off ill from 9 weeks of pregnancy through until 26 weeks. It’s mostly been an ill pregnancy, and worse than usual. DS would have a runny nose and a bit of a cough, mine would be 5x worse, and once I needed antibiotics at 10 weeks and another time it took 3 weeks to recover over Xmas and then a sickness bug.

I have been well since mid January at 26 weeks. I’m now 33 weeks pregnant and I don’t know how I have had 7 weeks of being healthy. Somehow last week both DH and DS had a bad cold and I thought ‘here we go again’ but I only had a minor symptom from it- not even a usual cold. So I was very surprised. I’m still waiting for it to develop further.

@Blue2020 it's so tough isn't it, and how hard is it being ill, pregnant while caring for a toddler and still working! Honestly us women are so strong!
Maybe the warmer weather will treat us well and this will be the last of all the illness for a while, just want to hope and pray our babies don't catch anything serious from all the nursery germs, I am dreading that! 😩

I was exactly the same with my first pregnancy- I was ‘glowing’ 🤣… can’t say I am with this one so far haha!
Yeh the flu I’ve just had was worse than time before.. - just desperate for some warmer weather, as agreed nothing else seems to be working!
take it easy x

Hi all, I'm exactly the same, 31 weeks pregnant with a 15 month who brings all kinds of germs back from daycare. I've had back to back illnesses , sinus problems and asthma flares. I'm now on a course of oral steroids and my third course of antibiotics, it's been rough! Have any of you been to the GO to rule out bacterial infection? A cold can be a virus or bacterial and if it lingers and you have green snot for example that might indicate bacterial infection.

Failing that, I just discovered NeilMed sinus wash and it's a game changer, really helps with congestion!

Also had a dream first pregnancy which lured me into a false sense of security!

I wrote a post just like yours the other day, basically I'm just constantly sick with some kind of infection, so I fully sympathize. I'm also about 21 wks. I got really low mood from feeling constantly tired, unwell, and easily irritated. Had a blood test that revealed I'm mildly anemic, the doctor doesn't think it's had much to do with illnesses but from what I read on official sources, anemia absolutely can lower one's immune system. I know it's often just luck of the draw as my previous pregnancies were also a breeze compared to this one, but there may be underlying factors so I'd recommend getting a blood test done and iron levels checked just in case. I'm on iron tablets now.

Another member of the constantly ill club 🙋🏼‍♀️ currently 19 weeks and I've had morning sickness, awful acid reflux, stomach bugs, flu/coughs/colds constantly not to mention absolutely shattered and needing to run around with an almost two year old. No words of wisdom but I'm trying to eat well, take various vitamins and get some good sleep. Also opted to have the flu jab this week after a horrible flu experience over Christmas. Paracetamol actually works well for me when I've got a fever but doesn't help with much else. I miss my nurofen and decongestants.
