subchorionic hematoma, could this be one?

Hi, sorry if this has come up twice, it didn't seem to post.

I'm almost 9 weeks by my dates.
Last week I had a reassurance scan at epu which was just below 8 weeks.
There was a heartbeat and baby was measuring 6 weeks (not ideal obviously).
I started bleeding just before this appointment and haven't stopped since.
It's about the flow of a few days into my period, so not crazy heavy, but bright red and always there.
There have been a few hours it's been a little more and a few hours it's been almost stopped, but generally pretty constant.

I was scanned again two days later and heartbeat still there.

I'm now a week past that first scan and still bleeding. I've last two clots in the last few days, one seemed to be blood but it was around the size of a small plum. The other was about the size of my little finger and it seemed more fleshy than just blood.

I'm being scanned again on Thursday (2 days time).

I'm just wondering if anyone has had/heard of anything similar to this? Could it be subchorionic hematoma. I'm guessing they didn't see one in the scans though because it wasn't mentioned.

Any thoughts/advice or experiences gratefully received. Thank you

So I had a hematoma - diagnosed at 6.5 weeks but had spotting from 4 weeks - and I bled for pretty much the whole first trimester. It ranged from light spotting to a medium/light period in terms of how heavy, and some days I had nothing. The first time it happened more than spotting (I’d initially been told by GP that the spotting was likely implantation bleeding and to leave it unless it got to more than that, which it did around 6 weeks) I ended up in A&E because I hadn’t even registered with a midwife yet/hadn't had my booking appointment and had no idea what to do or who to call, so 111 sent me there. A&E sent me to EPAU who did a scan and diagnosed me with the hematoma there and then. I was so surprised because they acted like it was all so normal and even told me off for going to A&E (it was during the pandemic) but I’d only ever been conditioned to think any blood=bad in pregnancy. TBH they did tell me that at this early there isn’t anything they can do if the bleeding does lead to anything more and to try not to worry about things I couldn’t control. Not very helpful at the time but admittedly true. At 19 weeks I had a private scan and the sonographer said she could see the hematoma but that it was healing and she’d be surprised if my bleeding didn’t taper off over the next could of weeks - it did. Can you go to your next scan and ask them there and then why they think this bleeding is happening - could you call and explain there’s been some changes and see if they could fit you in sooner? Hope everything goes ok for you OP x

Sorry that should have said I had a scan at 10 weeks (not 19!).

Having read up on it now I will definitely be asking then about hematoma, I had never heard of it.
I'm the same as you, I'd never had a bleed in previous pregnancies except the one I lost, so I saw blood and lost it.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm living in hope still,

I've had sch's which resulted in mc's. Although at about 7 weeks I started bleeding heavily passing clots with dd2. Had a scan a few days after the bleeding expecting another mc and they couldn't find a source for it but did find her and a hb! She's now about to turn 6. I bled for about a 10 days I believe, passing huge clots and basically as heavy as my period most days.

If you've seen a hb and it's sticking, and they can't find a reason for it, try to relax and not let the anxiety get to you too much. Fingers crossed op!

That's amazing, it goes against everything we are told to think! I truly hope that's where we are.
I think Thursday will make it clearer, it's especially worrying because of the difference in dates. I've got everything crossed

Hi, I am currently 8 weeks tomorrow.
i went into hospital with extreme blood loss, which included many clots at 5.5 weeks
due to my hcg levels being high they scanned me 2 days later, I was still bleeding but it had subsided. We had a heart beat.
4 days later, scanned again. Found heart beat again and hematoma. Went for a scan a week later and everything was still fine. Blood is so scary during this time. I am still like spotting when I wipe 3 weeks in. I hope this puts your mind at ease a little that it 100% can happen. Hope all goes well xx

Wow that sounds terrifying, sorry you had to go through that. I'm hoping we get a similar result tomorrow. Thank you
