Bleeding after hearing heartbeat

I’m 8 weeks and 5 days. Had a scan on Saturday and baby was measuring perfectly and heard a strong heartbeat. Went to the toilet tonight and wiped and saw blood. Still bleeding but only when wiping and nothing on pad. Period like cramps as well. Any positive stories? X

I have had this 3 times. First time I miscarried completely (but got pregnant with twins next cycle).
Next time I assumed it was all over (had a big bleed and passed tissue) went for a scan and there was baby!
Last time I bleed on and off the whole pregnancy which was awful for my nerves.
Sending you love and a hand hold. xx

Have you recently been intimate? The cervix can be sensitive and bleed.

Thank you. For all three of your bleeds, did you have an early scan prior to the bleeding?

No. I bled at 8+5 with my first as well but that stopped a lot quicker than this time

Yes, each time I had a heartbeat.
I am so sorry, it is a 'wait and see' I think. Big hug and hand hold.

The bleeding stopped the same night it started and turned into brown discharge the following days. I'm still having brown discharge but my symptoms have ramped up. Will find out at my scan on Tuesday

I’ve bled with both my pregnancies. This pregnancy in particular was really bad, never found out the cause either. I’m now 24 weeks. It is a ‘wait and see’ which is awful but hopefully positive news for you on Tuesday OP x

Good luck, I've had dreadful bleeding before with my first child and also small bleeding with miscarriages. It's all very worrying but does happen. I remember having a huge bleed an hour or two after my 12 week scan with my DD16, I was passing clots, huge egg sized clots, it tapered down to the olde brown them thick horrible black blood 5-6 weeks after it stopped. She's now doing her GCSE's! I've also had small bleeding and found that the foetus stopped growing in the weeks prior to the bleeding.
Good luck and my obstetrician said bleeding can be normal for a pregnancy so just keep calm - she was awesome

I’ve had three bleeds so far, all terrifying. Turns out I have a low lying placenta and if I do anything particularly strenuous, like long walks, it sets it off. Every time I go for a scan panicking, there she is, kicking away quite happily. Bleeding is very common in pregnancy, and can be caused by hematomas, an irritated cervix, position of the placenta. So not necessarily a reason to give up hope.

How bad are your cramps? Is the bleeding getting worse? If you find you have strong cramps and increasing bleeding, that might not be a great sign but without these things I would try and stay positive and get yourself to a scan.

@OhPickle @CatsWhiskerz @Triselly thank you for your words of encouragement. My scan on Tuesday went well. Baby is measuring ahead, strong heartbeat and was moving about happily, unbothered by anything. Couldn't find the reason for the bleed but the brown spotting is extremely light now so seems like it will stop soon
