Hi so I started a new job about 5 ish weeks ago and at the time of starting I didn’t know I was pregnant. I told work as soon as I knew and I could tell by the look on their faces that they wasn’t okay with it. But the past few days I’ve been off work as I’ve been struggling with really bad nausea and sickness and I was going to be getting a doctors note for this. I work through an agency and today they have phoned me and told me that work has sacked me on reasons of me ‘not being needed anymore and my assessment period was over’ then they continue to say that they are really busy and need staff. What do I do about this I think this is really unfair!

How long was your assessment period?

A but tricky really as they could easily say another reason for not wanting you there.

Op if you're agency staff then you have no employment rights with the company you were placed at. They can tell the agency at any time that they don't need you any more, they don't have to have a reason as you are not directly employed. Agency is by its very nature casual work. Have the agency told you they have no other work for you?
