I had a medical termination due to medical reasons 3.5 weeks ago.
I took a test today and all are positive (very faint)
i called hospital to advised less likely to be a new pregnancy.
any other stories similar? Praying it’s positive with a new pregnancy!

Hiya, I'm sorry to hear about your termination. I believe it can take around 4 weeks for HCG to reduce back down after any form of loss. I hope for you it's a new pregnancy though. Did the hospital give any indication if that's possible etc when you spoke to them? Crossing fingers for you 🙏

Thanks for your reply!
I knew it could take a while for HCG to go back to normal so that’s why I’m just a little confused😅
the hospital didn’t indicate much- the suggested to wait a week and if the test gets darker it will be a new pregnancy and if they get lighter to take as a negative.
not getting my hopes up at all but fingers crossed anyway!

Have you had a negative test since your termination and you’ve now had a positive or is this the first time you’ve tested?

I miscarried last summer. I miscarried on the 30th June, I passed the remaining tissue on the 4th July. The EPU asked me test weekly until I got a negative and I didn’t get one until 2nd August - exactly 4 weeks after my miscarriage completed. It can take time for the hormones to leave your system. Sorry this might not be the news you wanted - I hope you do have a new pregnancy very soon - we’re still waiting for ours!!

Did you previously test and get negative?

It can also be a sign of retained tissue. Were you scanned to make sure?

No I haven’t done any tests since what’s happened.
I was scanned 1 day after then 1 week after and all tissue was gone x

I had a termination before at 7 weeks and it took about 4 weeks for me to finally get a negative test x

I was 12 weeks. so I’m thinking it’s just taking time to come out my system.
going to check again next week 😊

Yeah it took 3-4 weeks for it to fade from positive for me after a missed miscarriage. Kindly, I’m not sure why you’re confused about it when you say the hospital did explain it can take this timeframe to resolve.
