Digital dropped from 3+ to 2-3. Honest experiences or hand hold please? )_:

I'm either 5+2 or 5+3, know dates for sure.

On Wednesday and Thursday I got a 3+ on clearblue digital. Not FMU.
I had cramping at around 3-4 weeks, but it had went away. Cramping started again last night, so took a test today and it's back at 2-3. 😥

We are older, so I know the risk of miscarriage is higher.

Does anyone have experience of this - good or bad? Or just a handhold. Feel like I should 'do' something - but what can I do, would EPU even see me? I don't think I can face getting up and ready or even phoning if they won't see me so early, and I'm aware there is nothing they can do to tell me tonight or even the next few days.

thanks

Unless you have bleeding very severe cramping, I wouldn’t stress too much. Your urine could have been too dilated at the second test etc.

Testing constantly after your first positive just brings alot of unnecessary stress but unfortunately we all do it.

If you experience alot of pain, the EPU may see you just to rule out an ectopic pregnancy.

congrats btw!

Thanks @Lulu89x . The cramping is quite bad, exactly like period cramping, but I did have it early on and then last week it stopped. Since last night it's back. I know, re the tests, I shouldn't do them but I just want to know what is going on.
I think if the drop from 3+ to 2-3 had been like the day after, I wouldn't be so concerned, but to go from 3+ on Wednesday to 2-3 today Saturday - when levels should have doubled, even despite diluted pee.

I had this happen to me and completely freaked! He's now 3.5 years old 🥰

Clearinguptheclutter · 01/03/2025 17:43

I really wouldn’t think too much about how many weeks the digital says it can’t be that accurate
I wish you all the best

I’ve said this in other threads - a pregnancy test is just to determine whether you’ve become pregnant or not. It is not designed to track whether or not a pregnancy is viable.

Not to scare you but my friend had very dark tests all the way until her 12 week scan, despite the baby passing away around the 8 week mark. In contrast, I’ve never had a 3+ test and my tests were shockingly faint throughout. I’m 18 weeks and everything is okay.

I wouldn’t consider period pains severe as I have them on and off.

if you’re really concerned, there’s no harm in contacting the EPU anyway x

I haven’t got any advice really, but I’m here to hold your hand 💕 Try to remind yourself that this is out of your control. There is nothing you or anyone else can do either way, try to relax because stressing won’t help. (Easier said than done, I know) My fingers are crossed for you and I hope that all will be okay in the end 🍀

laidir · 01/03/2025 17:55

@MummyV2021 Aww how lovely. Glad to hear it was good outcome for you. Do you remember if the tests dropping were days apart at all? It's the fact I was getting 3+ multiple days before this drop that's worrying me. I was never so anxious previous pregnancies.

@Lulu89x No it's ok, not scaring me. I have had miscarriages before around 5-6 weeks, but I never bought digitals then. I've no idea why I am so anxious this time, think it's cause me and DP are much older now.

@Kaybee1989 Thanks very much, I really need a handhold right now xx

@laidir I can't remember but I think it was 2 days after, maybe 3. I get the anxiety, especially if you've had losses before. I had a couple of early losses before that pregnancy (same with this one and currently 6+1 with no2) and they really do mess with you so I was testing for reassurance but it properly bit me in the bum! Sending lots of hugs your way, I hope this works out for the best for you. If you continue to have pain and you're concerned then definitely call your EPU although they're usually reluctant to do anything unless you're bleeding and at least 6 weeks 😘

Dolambslikemintsauce · 01/03/2025 18:45

Cramping is good as long as no bleeding.. When I mc (5 times) I never even got levels high enough to register a positive test on a CB....

PurBal · 01/03/2025 19:01

Pregnancy tests give yes or no results. And cramping is 100% normal. I honestly wouldn't worry.

laidir · 02/03/2025 22:13

So the test went back up to 3+ this morning with much more concentrated urine. I'm still worried though as from Wednesday to Saturday it should have doubled, so urine would have to be extremely dilute Saturday for it to go backwards.

I've booked a HCG blood test for tomorrow and will repeat on Wednesday, all going well I should be 6 weeks around Wednesday.

Praying everything is ok.

Thank you for the handhold everyone.

@laidir glad to hear it! HCG can vary so much in early days and those digitals can be a nightmare for so many! Hopefully your blood tests will give you some reassurance. I'm 6+3 today so not too far ahead of you. Will be thinking of you

laidir · 04/03/2025 00:07

@MummyV2021 I didn't end up going for the blood test (booked privately and cancelled), because I got paranoid that since I am already dizzy, breathless and feeling very sick and tired, and the pregnancy is at a crucial stage, getting my blood taken might somehow 'divert' my body into trying to replenish my blood and divert it from the pregnancy. Don't laugh - I know it sounds crazy! But I hate making decisions in case it's the wrong one.
I'm going to just try to handle the anxiety a little while longer if I can, because I know it can't change the outcome, and I will book a scan.
The cramping is freaking me out as well, I'm really anxious but trying not to show it.
Aww that's lovely yeah you aren't far ahead of me, I'm between 5+4 and 6+0 now, going by my ovulation tests. I think 5+6. Thank you for thinking of me, and to you also xx

mum2be005 · 04/03/2025 00:16

I'm older and I was seen by the EPU around the 6 week mark.

I went mainly as I had history of miscarriage and wasn't sure on dates.

They were lovely with me and I've been back and forth a few times because of bleeding etc.

If your worried call them would be my advice

MummyV2021 · 08/03/2025 22:53

@laidir how are you getting on? And don't worry by the way, nothing sounds crazy when it comes to TTC - you have to do what feels right for you and shouldn't do anything that would make you think 'what if' if something bad were to happen. Hope you're doing ok xx

laidir · 09/03/2025 16:28

Hi @MummyV2021 I'm ok thanks. Sickness is a bit better today, after being horrendous for a few days, so I'm a little worried of a decrease in symptoms, but otherwise ok. Booked an early scan for Wednesday. How are things with you? xx

OP posts:
MummyV2021 · 13/03/2025 22:30

@laidir sorry for being slow, I've not been on here much this week as been hectic! I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow and got a private scan booked in! I'm slightly excited but mostly terrified to be honest! Been having low level nausea most days and feeling quite emotional. Sore boobs and cold a lot of the time but that's about it. My symptoms are more intense some days than others so hopefully the same for you. How are you doing? Are you going to have a private scan at all? Xx

Miracledust29 · 21/05/2025 16:27

Hi can I ask how everything turned out? Similar thing happening to me and has 2 previous MC's. X

Laidir87 · 21/05/2025 19:32

@Miracledust29 I'm now nearly 17 weeks. I did do another clearblue digital the next day after it dropped though and it was back up to 3+. Prayers for you. xxx
