I’m very early into my first pregnancy and my head is going crazy. I wanted to know if there is changes in the law (UK) in regard to handing in your notice near the end of your mat leave.

I maybe thinking too far ahead but in the future near the end of my Mat leave if I was offered a more hours suitable job and left my current employer would I have to pay back the statutory mat pay.

thank you in advance

You don't have to pay back any statuary maternity pay. Whether you'd need to pay back any enhanced maternity pay depends on your company and their own policies.

Thank you, I don’t think I’d get any enhanced pay as the company are so unorganised and rather waste money on unnecessary things.

You need to find out what their maternity policy is. However small a company they are they need to agree in writing what your package will be and, if there is any enhanced maternity pay, what their agreement is about paying it back

No SMP doesn't need to be paid back. If there is enhanced pay then you'd often need to pay that back if you didn't return to that job for a certain number of months after mat leave
