Xonvea reviews?

I have been prescribed xonvea today by my early pregnancy unit as I am suffering with severe nausea and I suffer with emetophobia. I've read it can take a few days to fully kick in, what's everyone's opinions on this? Did it work for you? Did it take the nausea away?

I didn't take this particular medication but took various other anti sickness meds across both of my pregnancies and found that they worked better to stop the actual vomiting rather than the nausea. But I did have hyperemesis so quite extreme symptoms.
Hope you're feeling better soon & congratulations!

I was taking cyclizine but it's not really doing much so I'm hoping xonvea works for me! Thankyou x

Xonvea has saved me!
I took cyclizine for two weeks and it did nothing. Was being sick 8-11 times a day. Started taking xonvea and went to being sick o once a day, now it’s about once every three or four days. Only
downside is it makes me very tired/sleepy, but I’ll take that over the constant sickness!

Cyclizine didnt work for me either. Didnt make one jot of difference except made me extremely tired on top of the nausea and vomitting i already had. I finally got prescribed Xonvea and it was a godsend. Didn't just stop me throwing up, it actually took away my nausea enough for me to eat proper meals. You have to take it regularly though, not just when you feel sick or it doesn't work properly.

As above, I was admitted with hyperemesis. Was on cyclizine and moved over to Xovnea. On the whole, has helped my sickness but definitely still had nausea.
I’ve actually made the decision to move over to Ondansetron now I’m in the second trimester as the tiredness was as debilitating as the sickness. I’ve been off work since six weeks and want to find the right balance to get back. Still being sick and feeling nauseous on this so thinking now I just have to ‘wait it out’.
Hope xovnea works for you - some don’t seem to be as affected by the side effects x

Ahh I'm so glad! Has it took away any nausea too?

It’s hugely reduced! I sometimes still have bouts of feeling queasy but they are much less frequent now, thankfully!

Xonvea was a game changer for me. Was bed bound until I got it and then up and about eating actual food the day after my first dose. I was hospitalised numerous times in my first pregnancy but haven’t been at all this pregnancy. Hope it works for you too!

Another Xonvea convert here.

I really had to fight for it which is ridiculous as it's a first line medication just like cyclizine but a lot of gp's/pharmacists don't seem to know about it.

Put it this way - I have HG and ran out on Tuesday. Was nearly in hospital again yesterday for IV, this time yesterday I'd been sick 30 times. Just as I was crawling out of bed to go to the EPU again the pharmacy called to say my order had come in. Went straight down and two hours later my sickness had gone. It makes you tired and I'm a bit achey but if it means keeping water and food down for me and bean then that's a small price.

Good luck OP, make sure you get prescribed enough as I was getting through them very quick at 4 day and the pharmacy having to order them in.

Xonvea was a god send for me. I wouldn’t have coped without it! It did make me tired and sleepy sometimes but I would take that over feeling and being sick. Definitely recommend it!

@LookingAtMyBhunas oh gosh that sounds awful!!

I do just want to add on for OP that alongside xonvea being an absolute godsend, I’ve also found it difficult to get at the pharmacy, always seen to have issues! A couple of weeks ago they called me to say it was in, so I went and they didn’t have any, there’d been a mix up. Told me to go back the next day- I did, didn’t have any. Third day I went and they still didn’t have it and I kicked up a bit of a fuss and they rang some other local pharmacies until they found one with some in that I could go to. Most recent time, I went to get it and they only had one box (about four days worth) instead of the usual three they give me. This was last Friday. Told me the rest would be in for me by Tuesday. Called Tuesday. No luck. Called Wednesday. “Apologies, I will order some for you now and it will be in tomorrow” (why had it not been ordered last Friday when they first knew I needed it? Did not understand!) and was finally able to get the rest of it today.
I always request more when I still have a few days left so LUCKILY I’ve never actually ran out, but I always find it a stressful experience and worry about running out as I honestly couldn’t cope without it!

Just wanted to add that Xonvea was amazing for me. I took it from 7-22 weeks and it meant I could actually manage a bit of work in the worst weeks & look after my little boy. Without it I think I'd have been at best signed off, and at worse admitted to hospital. You have to push the GP for it as it's way more expensive than prometh/cyclizine but so worth the pushing!! Also doesn't make you feel really tired like the other 2 do. You may have to quote NICE guidelines and pregnancy sickness support charity. Hooray for Xonvea

I went to see a doctor privately, cause i couldn't handle the waiting for the NHS. He prescribed it to me immediately. I feel like a normal person
