Having had a busy busy day today I've only just noticed that either the baby hasn't moved since this morning or has moved very little.
I definitely felt a movement this morning and is felt quite uncomfortable, like the baby was changing position as aposed to just kicking, stretching etc.

I have drank some lemonade, eaten maltesers and laid down (either side), DH has also had words and have only had 1 lone movement.

What else can I try - am 27 week btw and feeling regular movements for a long while now

Drink some icy water. That's what my midwife told me to do.

Do you knit? My dd used to go mad when I knitted - must have been able to feel/hear the needles against my tummy

McDreamy · 10/05/2008 21:04

How about going to have a bath?

SmoothandWilkie · 10/05/2008 21:04

Warm bath?

NotABanana · 10/05/2008 21:04

Cold drink amd then hospital for check up if no movements.

anynamewilldo · 10/05/2008 21:04

tbh i would ring the community midwife just to get checked, could be that the baby is lying in a position that you cant feel movements, when i was about 28 weeks same thing happened to me, and although i felt stupid for ringing i also felt alot more relieved when i heard the heartbeat

Definately a bath with the tap running as you lie in it, the sound seems to start them off. If nothing then straight down to mat ward to get checked to put your mind at rest.

FoghornLeghorn · 10/05/2008 21:07

Am not freaking ...... yet

Both DD's did this and as soon as we arrived at hospital they went balistic with movements so I know it's not necessarily something drastic.

Will try icy drink and run a bath

Iced water used to get my LO moving. Or a coffee would sometimes work, but I'm not advising that!

NotABanana · 10/05/2008 21:10

Different baby.

Have you had an ice cold drink?

FoghornLeghorn · 10/05/2008 21:12

drinking now .....

I've noticed a dip in movements over the last week or so, still plenty just not as many as previously, pressumed was down to baby being bigger and the movements being bigger rather than loads of small ones

Have you tried poking your stomach quite deeply iyswim. Mine always used to poke back when I did that.

NotABanana · 10/05/2008 21:15

I really wish people would stop thinking movements slow down as the baby gets bigger. I was always told that any change in movements need to be checked out.

I used to go and get checked when worried and then one time I thought things were probably okay but I wanted to go to hospital and hear him. Thank God I did.

Have a drink and see how you are then.

lisad123 · 10/05/2008 21:16

always better to get checked. Better to have a healthy baby and feel abit foolish, than have a regret. I went a few times as baby Jaz wasnt moving but she went mad once we got there, but she was distressed, so always be sensiable.

FoghornLeghorn · 10/05/2008 21:21

Yes ledodgy, I usually get quite an agressive poke back too .....

I pressume you've had a bad experience NAB but I would never put my baby at risk and if there aren't any movements soon I will head to hospital but I want to try everything I can at home first

Ice cubes.Ice cubes.I used to do that with ds2 when prodding didn't work.

FoghornLeghorn · 10/05/2008 21:38

Right ...am off for a bath. Will be back on if still slack on movements.
Fingers crossed but have felt a couple of defo movements since the icy drink

I'm back !

Still not happy with the movements, have felt the odd tiny movement here and there but nowhere near as much as normal.
Usually in bed the baby goes for it but nothing last night and just a few little bumps this morning.

Am going to ring midwife and see what she thinks ..... god knows what am going to do with DD's if she recommends the hospital

no problem

VictorianSqualor · 11/05/2008 09:31

DS2 did this to me and scared the life out of me, I played my music quite loud and he soon woke up.
Also drink something cold and sweet (like pepsi or soemthing) then something hot. That's what someone told me anyway.

Essie3 · 11/05/2008 09:34

Sing? Deep notes, mine seems to like the vibrations.

Buda · 11/05/2008 09:43

Doc told me to shine a torch at my tummy! And mine is quite large!

Radio next to tummy too.

Fingers crossed that it is all ok and babe is just having a lazy weekend.
