Xonvea - HG

Hey I’ve been prescribed Xonvea for my HG.

I’ve been instructed to take two in the evening so far. My morning sickness is from 4pm and to about 9pm where I’m being sick in the evening. Will taking the tablets at night help this? Not too sure how long the effects work for

I'm on xonvea too. From my understanding it's a slow release medication which is why it has to be taken on an empty stomach. It takes 5-7h for its blood level to peak so taking it at night should mean that it's effective for you the following day. It's half life is 12h so it takes 12 for the amount in your blood to drop by half. By taking it twice a day you should find that it is effective for most of the day.

Cyclizine by contrast peaks in 1-2 h and has a half life of 4-6h so needs multiple doses through out the day and if you took it at night there would be very little left in your system by morning

If needed I believe you can increase the xonvea to two doses in the day and two at night.

I was started on one in to morning and one at night. Although after 3 pregnancies with hyperemesis I look to be escaping it this time but I could tell when I forgot my xonvea yesterday morning and mid afternoon I was struggling with nausea.

I would give it a couple of days taking it as prescribed and if it's not helping go back to the Dr and ask about taking a morning dose as well as an evening

The maximum dose is two at night, one in the morning and one midafternoon. The leaflet has instructions for how/when to increase dosage (but discuss with Dr). Xonvea worked really well for me, I went up to 3 tablets for about 6 weeks, but didn’t end up needing the 4th - but I didn’t have HG.
