Why do we get so hot when pregnant?

Not so much of a whinge (although i really could - its far too hot to go to work or chase around after a mad toddler) but wondering why?

Is it the extra weight - cant just be this as I am still lighter than before got pregnant thanks to the wonderful sickness. Is it some weird sensitivity? The extra blood? The hormones? Does progesterone make you hot?

Feeling like I could melt and only slept last night with the fan full blast and trained on me. And its only may.

And why do we then swell up?

And can I have your permission to whack the next person (or throw my cold drink over them) who points out that Im going to have an awful time over the next few months and how on earth am I going to cope. ARGHH People!

Ta, rant over lol

I htink it's the blood volume??

btw, you're going to have an awful time in the next few months. How are you going to cope?

It's the additional circulating blood volume.

It might be the metabolism working overtime.

I suffered third trimester in one of the hottest summers on record in the South of France. While it wasn't pleasant, it's doable.

My advice: Invest in a foot spa thingie, with vibrating, bubbles and all. It was the only thing between me and sheer madness at one point

Hot! The last week has been the first time I have not been freezing cold since January, when I became pg. When I told my sister I was pg, and she asked when it was due and I said September her reply was "You silly cow, you're going to be huge at the hottest time of year!" And she lives in the south of France!!
