Is this implantation bleeding or ovulation bleeding?

I had some brown spotting this morning. I go onto my app and it tells me today is ovulation day so I'm relieved (as I'm not trying to conceive). However my last 2 cycles I have been getting my period a week early. I wanted reassurance that it's just ovulation so I took an ovulation test and got a very very faint line which means I'm not ovulating? I did take this test a couple hours after I saw the spotting, once it had finished. Would this make a difference?

If you’re ovulating today then you would expect the line to be faint today - it would have been strong and at its peak yesterday before the levels fall quite rapidly afterwards.
