Clear discharge with red streaks

Please help. This afternoon, I went to the bathroom and noticed white discharge with streaks of blood.

This is the first time I’ve experienced this during my pregnancy. I’m currently 8 weeks and 5 days along.

I had reassurance scans at 5 weeks and again at 8 weeks and 1 day. I tend to be quite anxious, so I’m struggling with whether I should call my doctor or show them a picture, especially since they already provided a reassurance scan through the NHS.

I also don’t want to worry my partner, especially since he paid for the private reassurance scan. This only happened once today, and I haven’t had any discharge or bleeding since. I’m wondering if this could just be my body stretching or making room for the baby.

At my scans, I was told I have fibroids, which I know can sometimes cause pain during pregnancy. Could this be related? Should I get checked out, or is it okay to just monitor for now?

We haven’t had sex in a week, so I don’t think this is from irritation or a tear. To be honest, I’m also a little worried that he doesn’t even want to be intimate.

For context, I’m 36 years old and had a miscarriage last year, so I’m trying to stay calm but would really appreciate some honest advice—without unnecessary worry.

And no pain or cramping… just tired af!

Sympathies, OP, it's a worrying time. I wouldn't make this decision yourself- most early pregnancy units now take self referrals, so self refer and explain, and let them decide if you need another scan or not. How to self refer will usually be on your local hospital's website.

I’ve had a different type of discharge today more creamy and completely pink with less red. I called 111 and they have booked me in for an early scan tomorrow. I’ll be praying tonight.

Baby is fit and well.

if anybody ever reads this in the future. My Midwife told me that a tiny bit of spotting just like mine captured is completely normal. Bleeding throughout pregnancy is normal. You shouldn’t worry and you should always investigate, but in my case it’s been fine.

Happy to hear everything is ok. Just thought I’d mention, that kind of blood can be a result of sex. I know they say it’s safe etc but every time I have been sexually active, I have light spotting with clear discharge like that.

Thanks for this. This is handy to know. Could have been that. I’m really cautious and abut scare of sex right now. I think even my partner is. I think once baby is a lil bigger and more secure we’ll be back at it again. But for not it’s gentle gentle.
