Back Pain

Okay ladies, looking for some advice.

I've always suffered from lower back/hip pain. A mixture of sciatica and hip flexor issues.

It's never high on the pain scale, just a 3 - but it is incredibly uncomfortable and the sensation forces me to move.

Pre-pregnancy I'd just pop some voltarol gel on, have an ibuprofen and stretch and it would be fine.

Now? I'm 21 weeks. I cannot remember the last time I slept through the night. I'm not exaggerating when I say I am awake every two hours and end up getting on the floor to do some stretches and try and alleviate it. Hot water bottles help a little.

I've been doing some strengthening exercises and stretvhed regularly, but I'm getting really fed up of the pain.

Anyone else experience similar, or have any suggestions?

I was exactly the same, sadly for me it only got worse. I was given crutches to walk and weekly physiopherapy appointments. The pain only subsided once my baby was born.

I would suggest a birthing ball/ gym ball. Look up how to make sure you get the correct size for you. Theres loads of great exercises on YouTube on how to use it to help alleviate pain. I found moving around on it in the evening, doing a lot of different stretches helped me when trying to sleep later.

Keep an eye on the pain, mine became unbearable and that’s when I spoke to my midwife who referred me for physio and how I ended up with crutches but I was slightly scolded for leaving it for so long.

I've had back ache and sciatica for a lot of this pregnancy. Now 35+3 and struggling with mobility as suffering with pelvic girdle pain now too.

Had a pregnancy massage last week which was a nice treat and we spoke about strengthening the muscles in my back to try and help. She has suggested doing some pregnancy yoga/pilates etc so I've been doing some easy level YouTube classes. Too early to say if it's making any difference but I wish I'd started earlier
