8 weeks - blood when wiping WARNING: PHOTO

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and on Saturday afternoon had blood on my tissue when I wiped. Guidance in my area is to get to the gynaecology a&e which I did. I had an exam and doc was very reassuring. She told me it looked like cervical ectropian, which I had when I was pregnant with DC2 and referred for a scan on Tuesday afternoon saying we can know due sure until the scan. All day today (Sunday) I've had cramps and I've passed a couple of clots. I know I can't do anything at the moment and just need to wait till my scan but hoping for other experiences of cervical ectropian to compare to? Or of bleeding in early pregnancy and it being ok?

In my last pregnancy 2 years ago, I bled a little at 10 weeks. I'd not bled at all with my previous 2 so I immediately thought the worse. Got booked in at epu for a scan, all was fine. I can't remember the figure they gave but it was a surprisingly huge number of people have slight bleeds when they are pregnant and go on to have perfectly normal healthy pregnancies.

Thank you - do you mind me asking if you had small clots? When I bled with my 2nd DC I was over 20 weeks so got scanned right away each time it happened and it was always fine and got immediate reassurance. I can't remember if it had clots but I'm sure it was brighter than what I've got at the moment.

This time I have to wait for the scan as it's so early. Also when I went in on Saturday I hadn't had a clot and I'm worried the clots mean something worse.

Yes, I had about 4 clots and then it was just streaky. They think in the end it was because I had a low laying placenta, but in reality there is often not a clear reason for it.

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and had this blood this morning. It has since so far stopped. I have an EPU scan tomorrow. Fingers crossed for us both 💓

I’ve had it in both my successful pregnancies. My second looked like I was having periods. I can quite see how women go quite far without knowing they’re pregnant tbh. Weirdly when I actually had a miscarriage (missed) I had almost no bleeding. Hope it turns out ok for you.

Gosh it's so alarming isn't it. I really hope you get some reassurance tomorrow. My scan is also tomorrow so I will update here if you want to also. I'll keep everything crossed for you. I'm 9 weeks weds so we're very similar timing wise x

@Farcry66 and @Pyjamatimenow thank you for sharing your experiences. I've barely slept with worrying but this is making me feel a little better for now.

My scan measured 5+3 weeks, when by LMP I'd be 9 weeks tomorrow. I'm booked for another scan in two weeks but the bleeding has got so heavy with the cramping too that I'm fairly sure I've miscarried. This wait will be awful as I'll be so up and down. I was so hoping for an answer either way today and then being able to recover and move on.

I've had a couple of days off work and wondering if asking the GP to sign me off for the next 2 weeks is ridiculous? Half of me thinks it would be good to have a distraction but the other half things how will I be able to concentrate

Everything was good in the scan today. They just said to monitor any more bleeding and come back if it gets heavier

@maple1234 I know this post is fairly old but I'd love to know how your pregnancy turned out or if you found out the cause of this bleeding. I have bleeding which looks exactly the same at 8 weeks and had cramps yesterday too which have got better (think may have been from bloat). But my scan showed a healthy heartbeat and the correct size yesterday too. I'm still having this blood so just not sure what it is and would love to know if it turned out ok for you.. thank you 🙏

Hi! I'm doing really well, currently 22 weeks and everything has been perfect. When I went for a EPAU scan they couldn't find the cause of the bleeding but it hasn't happened since. Hope all works out for you
