Hyperemesis Gravidarum - due October/Nov anyone?

Hey all, I've just got my BFP, I was promoted to test by cake making me nauseous (same as my first)
I'm also struggling to drink coffee but these symptoms are all happening a lot earlier than with DS.
I feel like I could vomit this morning and I didn't get there until 5w4d with Mt first 2 weeks pregnancies (1 ectopic, one normal)
So I'm gearing up for a potential second HG pregnant and looking to connect with anyone else in the same boat

Hi, I think I'll be in the same boat. Tested after random nausea for a few days and an unusually cuddly cat - the cat was the same with previous pregnancies (1 mc 1 normal), but i don't think I was nauseous this early last time! Currently 4w+5 and have nausea here and there, though I'm also burping loads, which is how it started last time. Due end of October (all being well)

Isn't the waiting to see if it's going to show up just awful?
Having had it with 2 pregnancies I just don't see it staying away 😅

I'm finding it less awful than the dread of having another mc, if I'm honest 😕

In a really dumb way, I'm hoping it does turn up because then I'll start to believe the pregnancy will last! Then, in the throes of it, I'll fully regret that 😆

No I totally get that. I've had positive tests since October and both were either a false positive or a chemical.
So I'm terrified of going to the toilet incase I'm bleeding.
I feel super nauseous after dinner today and that's panicked me as well 😅

Going to be calling my gp first thing to request meds so I have them to hand when/if it starts

It's funny, I was talking to my mum today and she said she remembered the dread of going to the toilet in early pregnancy!!! It felt so nice knowing it wasn't just me.

What medications have you used previously? It took weeks and weeks last time to get anything that worked so I'm a bit worried that they won't listen to me if I ask...

I was started in prochlorperazine, switched to metoclopramide but it doesn't agree with me, back to prochlorperazine and given some cyclizine then ondansetron... Didn't start to get things under control until after I was hospitalised 4th time at 14 weeks.
I found my meds combo and I had to take them around the clock,. literally had alarms set for middle of the night.
I thankfully had a really good gp who had HG herself so I had no problems with access to care

That's interesting - my HG wasn't picked up until I was about 14 weeks because I never got to physically see a GP until then, in spite of repeated calls and phone conversations! I was put straight onto cyclizine and ondansetron, but you aren't supposed to have ondansetron until about 14 weeks due to potential birth defects. So hoping they'll take me seriously this time, but not sure what will work drug-wise. Even on that combo, it took weeks for me to be able to eat and drink water even close to normally again.

SkaterChick · 24/02/2025 19:27

I had my first hospitalisation at 7 weeks when I threw up for over 24 hours and couldn't even keep a sip of water down and went to A&E
I was on ondansetron from around 8 weeks. I had to sign a waiver but honestly looking through it all the research the risk wasn't much higher than without and it was more important I got it under control as I lost a shit load of weight.
I weighed less at full term pregnant than before I got pregnant.
I weighed myself as soon as I got that positive to track it.

Spoke with my GP and there's cyclizine waiting for me at the pharmacy now so as soon as the nausea hits I can get on it.

I've had wicked heart burn today and can't shift it 😭

Oh, the heart burn/reflux was how mine all started - constant burping! I'm still very early on this time round, but it's already started again so I'm sure worse is on the way 😬
