Hi
im 39 +3, I’ve been in for a sweep today and it was unsuccessful as my cervix was too far back, has anyone had this before and still
went into labour as im cramping like mad atm, or is that normal even though the sweep was unsuccessful.

A vaginal examination is only a snapshot in time and things can definitely change in a matter of hours. Don't allow it to let you lose faith!

Thank you for replying 😁

I was just hoping they could sweep me today so just feel a little down as I was hoping for another outcome as I’m just in so much pain atm.

I remember my midwife telling me her experience with trying to have a sweep. It couldn't be done for similar reasons and she was disappointed. She gave birth the next day!
As PP said, a lot can change in a short amount of time.
On the flip side, I was 3cm dilated for a couple of weeks before I was induced. Mild tightenings but nothing major in that time. So really it doesn't mean much (in my experience) when trying to guess when baby will arrive.
Good luck and I hope baby is here soon :)
