Unwashed lettuce and listeria

Hi,
I went over to a friend’s house and became aware that they did not wash the lettuce they served. I unfortunately ate like a whole bowl or so. I am quite worried about listeria. Anyone have similar experiences or ways to address the anxiety?

Thanks!

Statistically, you'll be okay. Listeria is rare, eating unwashed lettuce may increase chances, but still keeps the odds of anything happening in the 'rare' category.

Yes it's advisable to wash lettuce but the listeria risk is exceptionally low even when you don't - I think it's something like a couple of cases per thousand women!

It's really not worth stressing over something so low risk, especially when what's done is done and you can't change it anyway.

Listeria has to be on the lettuce for it to be an issue snd that’s incredibly unlikely. Even so, if it was, you’d be unwell but you’d almost certainly may be fine. Don’t worry.
