Hey.

I think I definitely have flu.. all the symptoms match NHS website. High temp, extreme body aches, head ache, cough, shivering, haven't/cant got out of bed for last 3 days etc.

I rang maternity early hours and they said to call doctor. Just waiting for a call back now from doctor but just wondered has anyone been in the same position? And what happened? I feel like I'm just going to be fobbed off and told nothing they can do. Paracetamol just isn't cutting it for me.

I'm so fed up and in so much pain with the body aches.

Glad you are feeling better. Did you get much from the doctor or have to go into maternity?

I was a little different I'm asthmatic so doctor gave me steriods and antibiotics straight away but it still took two weeks for me to get over it I genuinely thought I was dying!

Flu is really miserable and much worse in pregnancy. Most cases once you're vitally stable the only option is to let it ride it's course with lots of fluids and regular paracetamol. Did you get the flu vaccine out of interest? If a pregnant woman is deteriorating as in uncontrollable temps, tachycardia, work on breathing, dehydration and unable to keep fluids down then you may be admitted to hospital for management. It can become quite dangerous in pregnancy but you'll know yourself if you're in that category. If you're vitally stable other than feeling miserable (not undermining that because it is horrendous) then there's really nothing else to do but give it time. Feel better soon!

I had flu at 32 weeks (just after Christmas).

it was horrific and I was so worried about my baby. The midwife didn’t seem to be that bothered. I did go to the assessment unit once to be reviewed to check baby was ok (all good!)

it did turn into pneumonia though so I got a 2 week long stay but baby was fine. Took me absolutely weeks to recover from the fatigue!

Rest plenty!
