Hi guys, I recently posted about my worry about being around deodorant specifically aerosols, so I decided to switch to a roll on and decided to try 'fussy' the natural deodorant to give it a try. However after using it I have found that the fragrance I chose shouldn't be used because it has basil oil etc in it. I'm so stressed. Feeling like I can do nothing right and like I'm going to end up harming my pregnancy. Sorry for the rant just feeling overwhelmed. I just feel like if these things aren't safe then why isn't there warnings 😔 genuinely so upset.

The amount of basil oil in your roll on will be so tiny it will not do harm.

Unfortunately a huge amount of things are potentially harmful. But usually only in specific ways / large quantities.

Additionally, they are not allowed to explicitly test whether something causes harm to pregnant women/fetuses. So a million things have to say "may not be safe" as they can't claim otherwise.

This is why you only need to stick with the NHS list (assuming you are in the UK). If it is not mentioned on the list, do not worry about it.

I would also recommend you speak to your midwife about this as your level of anxiety about environmental exposures seems very high. I get it - I was extremely anxious during a longed for pregnancy after loss and infertility - but it's still something that needs help and support.

Ps: I used a deodorant with basil oil and my little one is perfect ❤️

I don’t think your level of anxiety is unusually high, pregnancy literally re programs your brain to be much more risk averse to what goes into on into your body.

Have you got the Yuka app? It’s really good for showing you alternatives to your usual products if that’s something your interested in.

I use Evolve Organic Cotton Fresh Natural Deodorant and it is by far the best one I have found and it scores 93/100 on yuka, lol
it might be the highest scoring thing I own 😂

The app is great for identifying endocrine distributors that can interfere with hormones.
