I have had a patch of weepy eczema which had spread and multiplied over the last few months. It has worsened recently in early pregnancy and maybe due to ivf meds.
My dr has told me to use fucibet (betnovate medium-high level steroid) for 2 weeks twice a day and for a further 2 weeks just once a day.
Out of desperation, I have started this on my hands and around my wrist today in the affected areas, but I am worried because of all the bad things I have read about how steroids can potentially affect fetal development and rare reports of causing cleft lip.
According to the NHS website, short-term use, which is 2 weeks should be fine. But I have been told to use it for 4 weeks, and I'm just questioning it because my gp has made errors in the past, prescribing steroids back-to-back, causing steroid withdrawal issues which took almost 7 months to recover from. The main pharmacist said he personally would not suggest using betnovate in pregnancy, especially not for 4 weeks.
Bit lost what the right thing to do is. I also have a toddler i am finding it extremely difficult to care for because of the extreme level of inflamed and weepy skin on my hands.
