hello, I’m 18 + 5 days pregnant, I’ve been off work for around 12 weeks due to nausea and extreme exhaustion, I’ve been getting SSP for around a month now, it’ll be my second month this pay day.. does anyone know if this will affect my maternity pay?

Yes it can affect SMP as SSP is less than the earnings limit for SMP and your SMP is based on the 8 week period prior to the 25th week of pregnancy I.e. weeks 17-25. Will you be back at work at some point in those weeks?

If you only get SSP in those weeks then you won't qualify for SMP. You need to earn £123/week on average to get SMP whereas SSP is only £116.75.

If you don't qualify for SMP you can claim MA. It's the same amount but without the first 6 weeks at 90%.

No idea if this is replying to a a comment, I have no idea how to use this website. But I return back to work tomorrow, I’m just doing small shifts and see how I get on
