Toxoplasmosis risk?

I am 8 weeks pregnant and took my toddler to the farm today. I did not intend to come in to contact with any animals but he had a bucket of carrots he was giving them and at one point he stuck his bucket under a sheep's nose and I had to help him hold it up. The sheep slobbered on my finger and I had a load of gunk on it 🤮 I quickly ran to wash my hands and sanitise. Now I've googled dangers of sheep in pregnancy and have come across Toxoplasmosis which I was aware of when pregnant with my son but concerning cat litter, raw meat and unwashed vegetables. Now I'm panicking. Does anyone know if this was risky?

You washed your hands. No problem.

Its if you ingest the toxin you contract it. So washing your hands gets rid of the risk. Once you didn't eat/rub your mouth/lick your hands before washing, you're all good.

I live on a farm with sheep, cows, chickens, ducks, currently starting lambing season and calves should arrive soon also , it’s more there after birth what you would be concerned of with toxoplasmosis , just stay away from pregnant farm animals for the minute otherwise wash your hands 🙌

You were at the wrong end for getting toxo! And even then you'd probably have to be handling afterbirth from a stillbirth or lambing an aborting ewe, probably bare handed, to get toxo.

Thank you for your responses! X

@remaininghopeful23 are any of the infections that pregnant sheep or newborn lambs carry airborne? Or are you ok as long as you don’t come into direct contact with them?
