I’m 5+5 and when I was out getting my big shop I felt a sort of gush of something. I went to the bathroom and it was bright red blood. I went straight home and when I wiped it was brown and minimal. It’s been the same every time I’ve been since. I called the EPU and they said to rest and come in for a scan in a weeks time. Has anyone else had this and not miscarried? I had a chemical pregnancy in oct last year and the bleeding started out as light pink spotting then turned into a period. This feels different but I am slightly further along this time

I'm glad I came across your post.
I had a short but moderate bleed of fresh blood at exactly the same time. Went to the EPU and baby was healthy and ok. They put it down to an implantation bleed as they couldn't see a hematoma. Implantation bleeds can be heavier than what you read online.
It's really scary but you don't lose faith yet, really hope it works out for you.

I had this with DS, now married with children, and DD had it when she was 🤰. I can't remember exactly what it was but it was like a separate capsule filled with blood that popped.

Strugglingat29weeks · 17/02/2025 00:01

I had this at 7 weeks, now 36 weeks and she's wriggling away and I can't sleep 😊

Jennyftb · 17/02/2025 08:19

Thank you everyone, you’ve helped to make me feel more positive. I slept with a pad on and it’s clear this morning. Just some brown when I wiped. My womb felt slightly achy yesterday but that’s gone now. I’m just praying not to see any more bright red blood😵‍💫

@Jennyftb i am so glad to see this post, I am in the exact same nerve-wrecking position. Hope you are doing ok! I also had that gush of blood on Sat afternoon, cleared up quickly and brown smear when I wiped. No clotting or cramps. I think the bright red blood scared the life out of me and you presume the worst. I’m booked into the EPU this week. Still feel pregnant so hoping all is ok 🤞🏻

Lwizzer · 17/02/2025 11:06

Just wanted to say I had the same when I was 9 weeks pregnant, a sudden massive gush of red blood which then turned to brown and took a few weeks to clear up. Scan showed everything ok. Thankfully my daughter was born absolutely fine, I still don't know what caused the bleed but you do automatically think the worst so I'm sending hugs to you and hope everything goes well at the scan next week. I also had bleeding when it was a miscarriage and that one started out as pink spotting that gradually got worse with painful cramps xxx

Jennyftb · 17/02/2025 14:04

@Irishgal1987 i hope you’re okay! How is everything today? I just hate being in limbo waiting for the scan it feels like torture😣😣

@Lwizzer thank you! I will report back on Saturday after the scan with hopefully some good news! Still not bleeding again so hopefully it was just implantation or a small SCH

@Jennyftb Im feeling ok today, definitely still feeling pregnant. How are you? No more bleeding thank goodness and just counting down the hours to my scan on Wed!

Jennyftb · 18/02/2025 11:12

@Jennyftb how are you today? I’m delighted to say all is ok with the baby 😊 the nurse said the bleed was potentially a twin loss, you could see another wee sac. Very shocked but also relieved that the baby is ok. Sending all the positive thoughts for your scan!

Jennyftb · 19/02/2025 17:56

I’m good thanks I’m back at work and no more bleeding🥰 ohhhh yay!! I’m so happy that baby is okay!!! Aww that’s sad about it maybe being a twin loss, you must be feeling bitter sweet about that bit. Only 3 more days till my scan so I’m just praying for good news too

@Jennyftb thank-you so much! Hope your scan goes well too! I found my pregnancy symptoms have got more intense now, in a weird way it’s the best reason for feeling like crap haha.

Jennyftb · 22/02/2025 15:07

@Irishgal1987 oh my gosh what a rollercoaster of a day. So we went in for the scan and she asked my dates. I said 6+4. She said okay that’s fine it’s quite early so we may not see much but let’s have a look. She found a gestational sac, but didn’t see much else for a minute, then she saw a little fetal pole, but the heartbeat wasn’t visible. She said I was measuring 5+6. She also said she could see a very average sized sub chorionic hematoma, which is perfectly normal and not necessarily a cause for concern, and would explain the bleed I had. But she did say that if I bleed again, it could take the sac (and the baby) with it, but again, it could just as easily not cause any issues. She said it may just be too early to see a heartbeat and has booked me in for 10 days from now. She said if they don’t see a heartbeat then that it means the pregnancy with a fair amount of certainty isn’t viable. So I left feeling very anxious and wondering why I’m measuring 5+6, and sad that I didn’t see that heartbeat that I so wanted to see. Thennnn I checked when ovulated and calculated my conception date from there instead of just letting my app assume I ovulated on CD14 (it was CD17/18) making me around 6weeks on the dot. So basically I went for a scan too early🥲 and still don’t know if the pregnancy is viable. But, there’s a sac and a pole, which is positive!

@Jennyftb you poor thing, what a rollercoaster! You stay positive, the sac and pole is there so hold onto that. I’m hoping you will have the most positive scan in 10 days! How are you feeling today? How are those pregnancy symptoms? I forgot about the horrendous fatigue in first trimester, not easy with a toddler haha.

Jennyftb · 23/02/2025 14:53

@Irishgal1987 Thank you!! I do feel positive so now I just have to wait😅😅 my symptoms are mainly a lack of appetite and feeling a bit nauseated in the evenings. I just really struggle to think of anything i actually want to eat😂 and I do feel quite tired by about 8pm. I have a demanding job, a teenager and a 6yo though. My partner is doing everything he can to make sure I get to chill which is so nice🥰 when is your next scan?

Jennyftb · 03/03/2025 11:36

@Irishgal1987 and everyone else who takes the time to read this… I had my scan today and there was a baby with a strong heartbeat🥹 the hematoma is still there and still roughly the same size so I have another scan in 2 weeks but the lady who did my scan didn’t seem too worried about it. I haven’t had any more bright red blood, just brown spotting from time to time, which she said will just be the bleed sorting itself out. So I feel so relieved and just need to hope that everything goes well from now on💛

I am so glad you saw the heartbeat ❤️

Strange how the difference between a few days can be so big. I had a sub haematoma in my first and weirdly never bled, it must have been absorbed back into the lining or something.

Irishgal1987 · 05/03/2025 16:14

@Jennyftb Aww what lovely news! Delighted for you ❤️ so great that they are keeping an eye on you for peace of mind. The nurse told me that brown blood is usually nothing to worry about and likely old blood. Hope that’s the case for you!

We lost this pregnancy💔

@Jennyftb I am so sorry to hear this 😔 how are you feeling? You take plenty of time and look after yourself. x

Jennyftb · 07/04/2025 13:02

Thank you so much. I’m okay. We went for our 12 week scan and they told us the baby’s heart had stopped beating around 9+3 weeks. I miscarried that night at home. It was like my body hung on just enough for us to say goodbye. We named the baby Sky and we will be given ashes to scatter💛 they also gave us lots of keepsakes and things through a local charity which has helped. How are you though? How’s baby? X

@Jennyftb what a lot to take in at your 12 week scan, I’m glad you were able to say your goodbyes to Sky ❤️ the wee keepsakes will mean a lot.
Im good thanks, 14 weeks now and feeling very lucky that all is ok.

Jennyftb · 07/04/2025 15:37

So glad you’re getting on well!!🥰🥰 I really hope the person who’s reacted with a laughing face to Skys memorial photo has done it by accident🥺
