Being induced rn, need a hand hold!

Currently in hospital at 41+2, induction started today as reduced movements. Went in with some contractions already, vaginal examination apparently was 1cm.
Tried the prostaglandin pessary at 2.30pm, by around 6pm the contractions were agonising and relentless, like less than 2 mins apart.
Baby's heart rate shot up and stayed up and then i got two shots of a medication to slow down the contractions. The next vaginal examination the evening staff midwife said cervix was still closed. (also really fucking painful getting that examination!) Took ages for baby's heart rate to regulate. My husband has been amazing though.
Now that things have stabilised they sent him home and I'm lying in the ward bed feeling very sorry for myself 😭😂 a hand hold would be great. I feel awful and couldn't stop shaking for ages.

Hey, didn't want to read and run. I was induced although over 16 years ago now. Sending you gentle hugs for the night, things always seem worse in the small hours don't they? It's exciting that you'll get to meet your baby soon ☺️ and I wish you as much rest as possible til then. If you can, try watching a video in YouTube that aims to help regulate breathing if you are feeling stressed or panicky. This calm, deep slow breathing will also help you to sleep. Best of luck lovely, and keep us posted. I'm invested now 😍

You can ask for gas and air for the next examination.

Good luck!

Hard to be on your own, particularly when everyone else is asleep and you're anxious.

When I had my son, I was induced at about 4pm and was in active labour by about 5am. Those hours in between when I was alone were long though.

Another good way to calm yourself is to go mentally go through the alphabet, listing something, a fruit/veg/people you know, for each letter. It's hard, but will refocus your mind away from your anxiety.

Handholding! I was induced in December and it was bloody awful so you have my sympathies. Do ask for gas and air for the vaginal examinations, I couldn’t get through them without it after about the 3rd or 4th because the pessary had made me so sore inside!

My induction took six DAYS and they used every method possible but no joy; I ended up with an emergency section because my little boy just did not want to come out and dropped his heart rate twice in protest. Fingers crossed it’s all smooth sailing from here for you!

I had a 4 day induction with my first so know how bloody awful it can be. Definitely second gas and air for any further cervix checks, it’s the only thing that got me through! I know it’s easier said than done but try to rest up as best you can x

I was induced for my second dd, forty years ago now. She has her own dd now, also induced!
Absolutely cheering you on here. 💞

Hello! So kind of you to check in 🥺❤️
DS was born rather dramatically this evening around 7:45pm, 8.9lbs. Healthy and happy.
I got an epidural, and had to get my waters broken. Oxytocin drip brought on the contractions more. By 5pm I was fully dilated. Started pushing around 6, good strong contractions but not going anywhere and baby was getting a bit stressed. One episeotomy and forceps later and he was here. Feeling very fragile and in bits but it's all worth it!!
