Hello.
I have found out I was pregnant first date of last period was 20th Dec.
I thought I was around 8 weeks this week went for a private scan and they have found 2 gestional sacs only no yolk or heart beats yet and she couldn't tell me how weeks I was. This has completely threw me as its the start of a twin pregnancy but I thought I was further along than this. Is it okay just to have a scan and just for there to be 2 sacs I'm worried more than ever as just got my head around expecting one and now there's two xx

No HB at 8 weeks is not positive news but surely they are going to scan again?

Yes they will re scan me in 2 weeks but what I mean is I thought I was 8 weeks with one baby but I'm obviously not as far along as I thought hence why she could only see 2 gestional sacs.

Do you know when you ovulated? It’s possible the pregnancy is just where it needs to be, or it’s possible it stopped progressing. If you know when you ovulated then that might give you a clearer idea.

When did you first get a positive test?

As others have said it’s either that you’re not as far along as you thought and only conceived in the last month, or you are 8 weeks but unfortunately the pregnancy stopped progressing and your body hasn’t dealt with it yet which is a missed miscarriage.

If you weren’t tracking ovulation it’s possible you are just early. If you first got a positive pregnancy test mid January then that’s not a good sign sadly.

All you can do is wait for the re scan for them to look again and see if there’s been further growth and development.

I wasn't tracking ovulation unfortunately.
I am keeping everything crossed that I am just early.
My first positive test result was 15th January xx

If you got a positive that day you must be at least 7-8 weeks. So not seeing a yolk sac or anything at that stage isn’t great. I had a scan at my IVF clinic at 7 weeks and there was only a sac and she told me honestly it was likely not viable as you expect a yolk sac, fetal pole and heartbeat by 7 weeks. But. There are always stories online where people have had them catch up. But personally I would just prepare yourself that it might not be good news just in case. Hopefully though all will be well.
