I had some cinema nachos and realized after that the cheese is soft cheese. Anyone know if this is safe in pregnancy? Thanks

You can eat soft cheese as long as it's pasteurised (which is the default for most cheeses anyway), such as Philadelphia, but if it's in a rind like camembert or brie, it needs to be cooked. The cheese at the cinema isn't proper cheese - it's a powdered sauce cooked in milk. No need to worry, it's no different from eating gravy!

I really doubt that the cheese they are using on cinema nachos is unpasteurised!

Unpasteurised cheeses are usually 'nice' ones that you buy from special cheese shops. Well you can get some at the supermarket but they're always in the posh section! Cheeses with rinds or things like camembert/ nice goats cheese etc.

The cheese on cinema nachos is likely to be american style processed cheese. It will be pasteurised and cheap.

I worked in cinemas through uni and remember reading the ingredients on the nacho cheese, unless it's drastically changed then there's very little actual cheese in it and its definitely not unpasteurised.
