Here's a before pregnancy and today at 37+4

Wow the swelling!! It's so tight and uncomfy.
Will it go soon after birth?!

I'm having 2x bp and urine test a week which seem to be fine so I think this is just normal pregnancy swelling

Can't see any photos but my feet were like little piggy trotters struggling to get into trainers towards the end.

If you're being monitored and the midwives are happy then just hold on until the end! But you might be at a higher risk of preeclampsia so bear that in mind :)

Pinkstuffs · 13/02/2025 20:15

I didn’t really have any swelling, in fact I was more swollen after pregnancy. Has it come on suddenly or been a gradual thing?

TrainTicket · 13/02/2025 20:17

Your foot looks quite puffy in the second photo.
I was very puffy with my second pregnancy which was my more straightforward pregnancy. It seemed to be sex of baby related for me (that’s what people convinced me anyway!)

anonny55 · 13/02/2025 20:19

@PickledElectricity I've had high bp and protein a few times but it always goes away but thankfully there being extra cautious as I have symptoms .. all started around 34 weeks and I'm still pregnant so that's promising..my sections planned for 39+3 so not long to go🫣

@Pinkstuffs the swellings progressively got worse over the past week..it seems to blow up a bit more everyday and even worse in the evenings!

@TrainTicket I can't believe how fat and short they look compared to usual! Awful😵‍💫

I had this my feet, fingers and face were swollen
Keep rotating your ankles clockwise then anticlockwise and elevate your legs

Iloveeverycat · 13/02/2025 20:22

My ankles were quite swollen with 1st pregnancy at 36 weeks had blood pressure and urine test sent straight to hospital had pre eclamcia had c section same day. 2nd having twins very swollen ankles had pre eclamcia again had c section 34 weeks. 3rd I wore an ankle bracelet so I could tell if they started swelling didn't swell at all had c section at 39 weeks

Pinkstuffs · 13/02/2025 20:23

On your update I would be ringing triage for advice actually.

MidnightPatrol · 13/02/2025 20:23

Mine was horrendous too OP, no pre-eclampsia here either.

What shoes are you wearing?

Find a pregnancy reflexologist, it won’t make it go away, but it will feel good.

When were you last seen/tested lovely?

CrispAppleStrudels · 13/02/2025 20:39

I had preeclampsia last year with DD2 and I think it's also worth a call to triage. Just to be on the safe side. You can never be too careful with preeclampsia - i was being monitored for 3 weeks before mine "officially" became preeclampsia. Are they doing regular bloods as well? My urine was consistently clear but my bloods showed a clear deterioration until the point that protein finally showed in my urine.

LetMeStopWhatImDoingToFixTheProblemYouMade · 13/02/2025 20:42

Oh bless you! I was a balloon and we laughed about how much bigger I was by the end of the day but I wasn't as bad as you here. Mine went down the second I gave birth of that helps.

LetMeStopWhatImDoingToFixTheProblemYouMade · 13/02/2025 20:43

If you didn't seem relaxed from your medical check ups, I would be getting medical advice.

anonny55 · 13/02/2025 20:46

@PickledElectricity I was seen this afternoon..bp was 120/80 which it has been for a couple of weeks now and no protein present in urine today

@CrispAppleStrudels
Yes I'm having weekly bloods; due the next ones tomorrow

I've had +1 protein in my urine on and off for weeks but none today

I've honestly been in SO many times to keep checking every single symptom I get and it's always fine..I'm more worried I'm gonna be left like this after pregnancy too at this point😵‍💫🤣

I was last seen earlier today and was told the swelling is normal as my bp and urine was fine so I can only go by that I guess! Just cannot believe how swollen you can get towards the end!!

libradogg · 13/02/2025 20:54

I resembled verruca salt by 19 weeks, I was massively swollen, face, hands, legs, feet and surprisingly no pre eclampsia.
My face used to swell so much my eyes could hardly be seen in the morning towards the end!

If this is new, definitely call triage!

anonny55 · 13/02/2025 20:54

@MidnightPatrol I'm living in sliders atm as finding everything else too tight🫣

Iloveeverycat · 13/02/2025 20:55

Your ankles will go down very quickly after. It is just water. You will just pee it out.

heroinechic · 13/02/2025 21:02

I'm stunned by the difference in those photos! Have you shown the medical staff the 'before' image so that they can get perspective on how much your ankles/feet have changed? I would be more concerned however you seem to be having regular checks so they must think everything is fine x

anonny55 · 13/02/2025 21:18

@heroinechic I haven't no but I will tomorrow when I go to the day unit for the bloods ..I hadn't even realised myself just how swollen they actually are until I compared a photo!

annlee3817 · 13/02/2025 22:36

My ankles and calves were massive and I'm normally petite, it looked like someone had blown up a balloon and plonked it on my foot, was the same in both pregnancies, I kept an eye on my blood pressure and thankfully all was fine and feet and legs were back to normal approximately 2 weeks post birth.

WonderingWanda · 13/02/2025 22:40

Yes I had this, no pre-eclampsia and normally very scrawny feet.. Try putting your feet up on loads of pillows at night....be warned you'll need to wake up and pee loads.

sel2223 · 14/02/2025 05:43

Yes and mine was PE but I. Know it can just be a normal pregnancy symptom too.

As long as they are monitoring and checking regularly incase it develops further. Good luck

Theresacatinmykitchenwhatamigonnado · 14/02/2025 06:00

Mine were like that and hospital were v concerned about PE, but my feet, ankles and fingers also do that when I'm hot or been on a plane, so it's just normal for me unfortunately.
