Pregnancy bleeding success stories?

Hi all,

In a bit of limbo and could really use some positive stories as it seems this is really much more common than I'd ever realised?
I'm 14w1d, and on Thursday I woke up to light pink when wiping. My pregnancy unit are fantastic and they invited me straight in for a speculum and scan. Baby seen, healthy heartbeat. Brown discharge at top of cervix but cervix closed and they didn't know why it was happening. They told me to go back if the bleeding got worse.

By late afternoon/evening, bleeding was bright red on the pad. By night, they told me to go back in where I had another speculum and scan and was confirmed all was good. I was told this might just be my pregnancy.

Since then, I've had pink on wiping for the last 2 mornings then it seems to drift off during the day. It's back tonight, very light pink so far. Haven't had any pain at all 🤞🏻. I'm trying to stay calm but it's really hard because you just don't expect to bleed in pregnancy do you? My first was smooth sailing so this has all been really surprising!

If you've had bleeding in pregnancy with a positive outcome can you please let me know? I'd massively appreciate it. Thank you so much

I had bleeding with both of my pregnancies. It is such a worry. It's really positive with the scan results though, so focus on that.
The bleeding at times was really heavy and it did continue throughout.
They could never really say why. Your cervix is closed and that's important. Try and rest.

I had bleeding with my second pregnancy bright red. Also my daughter had bleeding too and had a healthy baby girl.

MadisonAvenue · 09/02/2025 01:14

I had a heavy bleed at 12 weeks, that baby turns 28 today.

With my next pregnancy I bled lightly on and off from week 6 to week 12 and then again at 14 weeks, it was never investigated why apart from scans at 9 and 12 weeks but clearly everything was fine as that baby will soon be 25.

KhakiOrca · 09/02/2025 01:17

Also everyone I know who bled had girls.

NearlyThere2025 · 09/02/2025 01:18

I bled at 17 weeks, started off pink and then got really heavy. It was so frightening. He's 8 now

They said they didn't know what caused it but that baby had been blocking it and when he moved he must of dislodged it ( sorry can't really remember, was a long time ago now ) but he's here and healthy ( although he was induced due to IUGR )

Cluelessmam · 09/02/2025 01:28

I bled from 7 weeks until about 14/16 weeks. Mostly in the evenings. Initially it was a tiny hematoma (0.5cm) but not sure why it kept happening. I was terrified but he’s now lying in my arms refusing to sleep!

I had bleeding with both of my pregnancies - seemed to be triggered by sex/orgasm. Scans and checks at hospital determined all was fine and probably friable cervix due to pregnancy. Kids are now 5 & 1.

Hi I did, my third pregnancy, I’d previously had a miscarriage and thought I would lose her. Two quite big bleeds. I was permanently praying and rested seriously for nearly a month. She’s now nearly forty and has children of her own…. Just hold your nerve and stay calm, focus on good things. Best of luck. Xx

That’s interesting, me too.

BobbyDazzler11 · 09/02/2025 01:59

Bled about once or twice a week, from 2 weeks to about 24 weeks. sometimes light, sometimes heavy. Pink, brown, red, clumpy.

Never ever found a reason and it was scary everytime.

Perfectly healthy little boy who is now 1 years old.

Hope all is ok x

GreeneryGrass · 09/02/2025 07:28

Thank you all so much for this. You've really helped normalise it a bit more for me. Trying to stay hopeful and you're all a massive help in that, thank you xxx

Hello, I'm a lot earlier than you but also woke up yesterday to bleeding. Really scary and worrying day, but went for a scan and all was fine baby had a strong heartbeat and was measuring 8 weeks 4 days. Bleeding now seems to have stopped.

I know how you feel though it's so worrying isn't it!

Eenameenadeeka · 09/02/2025 07:39

Hello. It's so scary isn't it. I had a subchorionic hemorrhage which started at 11 weeks, I had quite a lot of bleeding and it was very visible on the scans but the midwives weren't that worried over it. It bled on and off for about a month. I ended up having my baby prematurely, I'm not sure if was caused by the sch or something else but he turned out just fine ..all the best to you take care x

Fingers crossed for you too, I'm sorry you're going through this as well. It's like an awful waiting game isn't it? I just keep trying to read the positive stories like on this thread to feel a bit more normalised. Hope it helps you too and hope we soon have smooth, boring pregnancies!xx

I bled too on and off until I was abut 20 weeks with other bleed about 30 weeks. Most was brown but had a bright red bleed at 13 / 14weeks. No cause was found either. She’s now nearly 18. Interestingly I had a doctor friend who told me that when the placenta takes over and grows this can often be the source of bleeding but who knows

ohthejoysoftoddler · 09/02/2025 09:35

I had lots of bleeding with both mine, including multiple heavy bleeds. With my second it was so heavy I was convinced the pregnancy had ended and went to the pub!

It carried on until about 20 weeks. Regular scans helped ease the worry, though only briefly.

It's so worrying, but things do seem positive for you. But the dread of going to the loo is awful

MrsW9 · 09/02/2025 11:07

I bled several times - at 5-7 weeks (brown), 10 weeks (pink and watery, in a couple of small gushes), 12 weeks (brown again), 14 weeks (red like a period). No reason was ever found but I had an otherwise unproblematic pregnancy, an easy delivery and a healthy little girl. It was so hard not knowing the outcome every time, and I know I took a lot of comfort from reading positive stories on these threads. Every good wish to you!

2020N · 09/02/2025 16:37

With my first, I bled from 6 weeks off and on until my baby arrived at 38+1. I did have a big bleed at 36 weeks and again after delivery, but all was well with baby during both times. She was a tiny 5lb 1oz when born, but otherwise healthy, and is now a happy and healthy 4 year old.

I’m currently pregnant with my second, and being monitored but no bleeding this time (🤞🏼). They have said that my placenta was most likely the cause last time, but it wasn’t mentioned at all during the pregnancy. Just mentioning incase you wanted to ask your midwife for peace of mind.

Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy moving forwards.

GreeneryGrass · 09/02/2025 18:17

I really can't thank you all enough. You're all absolutely brilliant and I'm positive that the next person who Google's or searches on mumsnet about bleeding and finds this will be just as grateful as I am for how much time you've all put into reassuring me and others in this boat. I'm so glad to hear you all had success and have your little (or not so little anymore!) ones with you now. I'm still reading the comments that have been coming in and each one helps a little bit more. This is really scary so I can't thank you all enough x
