Hello, I’ve never posted on one of these before so not too sure how it works but feel like my mind is on over drive keep thinking what is best to do.

Myself and my partner have been thinking of starting to try for a baby, we both have good secure careers, however, I don’t really like my job and thinking of going back to my old job which is also a secure career and I am able to go back if I wish too. My plan was to return to my old job and then start trying, however, I have been waiting for a start date for months and have had to be re vetted for the job due to the amount of time that I have been out of it (which is why the process is taking so long). Problem is, I did not expect to have been waiting this long and still waiting without knowing a potential start date.
What I am hoping for is some advice or rather other opinions on what should I do or what is best to do in terms of, if we start TTC soon and just go for now then I qualify for full pay at my current job which would be very handy financially for us, whereas if I go back to my previous job, I will have to wait longer (roughly 9 -12 months) before trying to conceive in order to qualify for the full pay there if that makes sense.

So my query is, should I stay where I am work wise for now and TTC now and see what happens meaning we will have full pay or do I wait and go back to my previous job (whenever I get a start date) and have to wait longer? I keep weighing up the options and don’t know what to do for the best 😩 I just know that I really don’t like my current job but also we really want to start trying for a baby as we have already put this off for a couple of years in order to get our careers going and have some work on the house done (which is done now).

We are 27 and 34 with our own home and have been together for 4 and a half years if that gives some more incite.

As someone who took 6 years to conceive, I’d say just go for it now and don’t wait. Sadly no one knows how long it will take, though you may be lucky and conceive straight away. Good luck 😊

As above, don't put your life on hold around TTC, there are no guarantees. I started trying in 2021. I'm only now pregnant with my first, but after IVF as it never happened naturally for us. Changed jobs in between because a good opportunity arose. I wish you all the best and hopefully you'll be luckier than I was, but don't assume it's definitely going to happen quickly (despite the impressions they give in the token high school biology sex ed lesson 😂).
