Has anyone started levothyroxine in the third trimester? It is 50mg.
Im borderline 4.63 for tsh and negative antibodies, so the doctor didn’t think I needed it really. This was first flagged at 18/19 weeks from a blood test when I wanted my iron checked the gp decided to test everything. I have since had two more sets of blood tests 4 weeks apart each time to check my thyroid. All times it’s stayed around 4.6/4.3/4.6 for tsh. Sometimes the t4 has dropped below and on one occasion it was in the normal range.
I queried the potential link between thyroid and preeclampsia (had preeclampsia last time but never had my thyroid tested during pregnancy) and she didn’t really have any experience of thyroid during pregnancy so she passed it to the endocrinology dept at the hospital. They decided to prescribe the medication now 11ish weeks later. I’m 29+5.
Has anyone else started it in their third trimester? Also if you started it during pregnancy (any time really) did you find your thyroid improved after pregnancy to stop taking the medication?
